We stayed three nights at the Fairfield Inn and Suites adjacent to the Dulles Airport on the DC section of our recent US History Tour. We found the hotel to be very nice and the staff friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. There was some airplane noise, but not too bad. We are used to airplane noise from planes at home, so we weren’t disturbed by it in the least. The breakfast was adequate, and quite convenient given the shortage of restaurants nearby. We’d eaten supper at a Cracker Barrell across the parking lot the night we checked in. The hotel was located centrally to the places we were seeing in the area on our tour.

I stayed here overnight during a connection, and left too early for breakfast (and they don't offer take-along breakfast as some hotels do) so I can't comment on breakfast. However, the room was clean and the desk manager was very pleasant and helpful. The bed was comfortable and there was no traffic noise so the sleep was restful.

“Good enough at a good enough price”

Convenient. Friendly staff. But nothing special. The shuttle driver and the front-desk person (there's only one position, and it's a bit awkwardly placed if there are people there with luggage while others are trying to get by in either direction, much less both directions) were very pleasant to deal with. The room is on the small size, but for an overnight, I'm not complaining -- there's less possibility of things getting lost. The free breakfast was more than adequate, with a good amount of seating. The fitness room was clean, and the equipment -- three treadmills, two steppers, and two bikes, plus an adjustable bench and a good set of dumbells -- was in decent shape. But be careful about buying anything in the "Corner Market" by the front desk -- a small bag of pretzels, available to them at 30 cents or less, is marked up to $4, as was the Gatorade I got to wash the pretzels down with. The prices are posted, but on a pillar that isn't visible when you're making your selection. And it's close to one of the flight paths for the airport, so expect some serious airplane noise at times!
