CONS: The first floor and especially the exterior needs some attention to bring it up to Marriott standards. PROS: My wife and I were greeted by the sweetest young lady at the front desk! We arrived rather late in the night but she was still very spunky and friendly. In fact, over our 3-day stay I can say that all of the staff was kind but the young lady at the front desk was especially inviting and welcoming. The one I really want to mention though is the lady that cooked the breakfast every morning. Wow! Her name was Brenda "Kay" Aikens. She gave special attention to not burn the eggs, the link sausage was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were spiced just right. Chocolate milk was on hand and she made decaf coffee if there wasn't any and she did it all with a smile on her face. From what I could tell by the certificates on the wall, she is a safe serve trainer which made me feel very confident about the temperature of the food and the fact that it would not make me sick later. The food was great but her kind demeanor was the best of all! Residence Inn and all of the Marriott corporation should feel very fortunate to have someone of her qualifications and experience on staff making breakfast for people like me. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable, Ms. Kay!

Residence Inn is our preferred choice, but the Duluth location is in serious need of some some room maintenance and staff training. We had no hangers in either bedroom, no sound on the living room TV, dim lighting, the tub took hours to drain, the base boards were a mess, they came to clean, took all the towels and left one clean towel, emptied the trash and I found the replacement plastic bag in my make-up bag, the hallways smelled of cooking, the hot breakfast was out of eggs, sausage & English muffins... I could go on, but the point is, I don't expect this from a Marriott. They charge for parking which is unnecessary since they are in the suburbs and have their own lot. Just a way to make money. We have stayed here many times in the past 10 years and the hotel has gone way down hill. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast person was stressed out and snapped at me, when I asked about the missing hot foods. We will be searching for other lodging when visiting Atlanta.
