Great location, friendly, and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms.. The complementary breakfast is better than average. The rooms are larger than average, and we had a nice view of the city. Also very comfortable beds and nice pillows

“Chicago summer visit”

All of the reception staff were friendly and helpful checking us in on a Friday night before the 4th of July holiday week. Our room is clean and comfortable and breakfast was very busy and the staff was on top of everything. Kudos to Ariel at breakfast for her helpfulness and friendly demeanor!

“Underwhelmed”

My fiancé and I have stayed at a lot of Marriot hotels and unfortunately, this was our least favorite of them so far. The set-up of the lobby is odd, and you have to first take an elevator from the ground floor to enter the lobby. When we arrived around 5PM the check-in counter was extremely busy. It was not clear at all what line to get in. The lines backed up to the hallway where you get off the elevator, so everything was very congested. People who were in line first were getting helped after people who entered the line later since there was no direction as to where to go. The A/C was not powerful enough during this process. We were so hot while waiting to get checked in. The staff member who helped us did apologize for the delay since they were in the midst of training someone, among other complicated customer check-ins. They were handing out room temp water bottles to people upon check-in, but we were never given any. At other Marriot hotels we have been to, they just have them stocked in the fridge. The room itself was very spacious, with a couch & desk added. The shower/toilet room was cramped. The shower door almost touches the toilet when opened, that is how close the two are together. The bed itself was comfortable, but like other Marriot hotels they have feather pillows, which are not my favorite (obviously a personal preference). I figured this stay would have those pillows. Service at the hotel bar was subpar. My fiancé said the bartender didn't even acknowledge him with words as to what he would like, but instead just nodded to him. However, when a young lady sat down next to him to place an order, the bartender was ever so eager to be of assistance, asking, using actual words (what a concept!), what he could get her. We tried the complimentary breakfast Saturday morning. They had a lot of options, but it was nothing special. If it wasn't so insanely packed, we would have made an effort to try more, seeing as it was included in the stay. All in all, we were underwhelmed with our visit. I think that since the Chicago market is so heavily saturated with hotels it is hard to find one that isn't just mediocre. Maybe the Westin down the street is the way to go next time!
