We stayed at the Riviera! I will start out with, the renovated rooms are nice! Now for the cons!!! The seating on the decks are not practical at all, the refrigerator was not cold, there was no hot water in the shower for all 3 days we were there. Lukewarm at best! Tiny moth like flies all over the room. The restaurant was not good at all. The bar at the other resort was horrible. No bar at Riviera! Enjoyed the beach! I am glad we had a special which included the $25 per night parking fee!! Ridiculous!! Also, one day when trying to go back to our room, the key swipe didn’t work. So my husband walk over to the other resort to get another one. The clerk never ask any information at all and just gave him a key for our room!!!!! Doesn’t make me feel safe knowing anyone off the street could ask for a key and get one! I realized if he had asked for an ID, he didn’t have it on him (in the safe, thank goodness), but didn’t even ask for a name! It could be a very nice “resort” with a few improvements! We thought some of the issues were because it was off season, however upon reading other reviews, it was similar in season! Too bad!

My family and I have been coming to this resort for the last 10+ years. Some of the reasons we have been coming here so long is the location and having a beach and pool in the same location. Another reason we have been coming so long was the value of the hotel. This is no longer the case since the new management company has taken over. A 6-night stay in 2021 (pre new management company) averaged $316/night with taxes and room fees. A 5-night stay in 2022 (first year of new management company) averaged $455/ night with taxes and room fees. A 4 night stay this year average $576/night with taxes and room fees. In addition, there is now a fee to park on-site that did not exist before the new management company. The Red Jacket hotels are the only hotels on South Shore Drive that charges to park. So, the room rate on a per night basis is more once you figure in the parking fee. At these rates it is like paying the rate for a luxury hotel, which the Rivera Beach is not. For the rate we paid we would have expected full daily housekeeping (without having to ask) not just a change of towels and trash. We would have also expected towels at the pool to always be available. By mid-morning towels at the pool were usually unavailable and if they were restocked it would only be a handful at a time. While the rooms were renovated this past off-season and looked nice some of the storage options available before the rooms were renovated was better. There were certain things we ended up having to keep in our car because there was no place to store it in our room. The beverage fridge that is now in the room instead of a standard mini fridge was also not very useful. As a family we like to bring food for lunch and breakfast to help control costs of the vacation especially since the cost of the room has significantly gone up the last couple of years. Got a virgin mudslide for my child that cost $12. Not sure what the version that has the alcohol in it costs, but a virgin mudslide which is essentially a chocolate milkshake should not cost almost the same amount as the one with alcohol. With the increase room costs and parking fee we will be looking for another hotel to stay at next year.

We enjoyed the beach and the location as it was central to everything. The room was okay, spacious. The bathroom was small. For what is charged not a real value for your money. We enjoyed the beach and the location as it was central to everything. The room was okay, spacious. The bathroom was small. For what is charged not a real value for your money. Had to ask for a hairdryer, no ironing board or iron to speak of. It is supposed to be a resort, yet no chairs outside to enjoy a morning coffee or evening drink. There was a chair outside our room when we arrived but taken away a day later. I suspect that it was taken by a prior guest from the bar as they wanted to enjoy the sea air. Again for what is charged to stay at this place a chair or two would be nice. Now lets move on to the parking fee, REALLY charged $25.00 per day to park outside a room that you've paid for. Maybe you should charge that money for a chair outside your room. We ate at the resort when we arrived before our room was ready $91.00 for 2 clam chowders and 2 salads. Outrageous. Our meals at a restaurant with a drink almost the same.
