Good hotel to stay at if you are arriving late/departing early due to its proximity to SFO. Also works if you are renting a car and do not want to pay expensive SF parking fees ($50-$80 per day). Does not deserve bad reviews. Don’t expect 5-star luxury hotel accommodations and you wont be dissatisfied. I will say they DO need to update the bathrooms as they are old. Toilet handle kept getting stuck and tiles were dated. Hotel was clean except for some stains I saw on our window curtains. Breakfast is not worth what they charge ($31.50 pp) but my room included free breakfast. The staff are very friendly. I would recommend if you need convenience over luxury.

Wish I had known that there’s no place to eat around here. The hotel grill menu was extremely overpriced and no one was working there. The sign was turned around, so it appeared to be closed. The only way to get anywhere on foot is to go underground below highways, which we were told is not safe at night. In December, it’s not surprising that the wind was brutal and cold, and the rain came sideways. We rented a car and spent most of the day in traffic looking for parking. It took us an hour to get to the Palace of Fine Arts, and another 45 mins. Getting to the Ferry Marketplace. Parking rates were $11 for 15 minutes. We parked in a lot and went to the Ferry building. There were some specialty shops for pretzels, cookies, candles, pottery, bagels, books, etc. Nothing interesting. We saw many designer dogs in designer raincoats. Entering a destination in the gps always put us back on the highway for at least 45 mins, even to just get lunch. We ended up just coming back to the hotel only to decide we’d skip dinner. Set your expectations accordingly.

“I'd pass on this one”

You can do better. There is an airport shuttle every 30 minutes - on the top and half hour from the hotel. The staff was - saying this nicely - lackluster. The check-in was stupidly slow. You can do better. There is an airport shuttle every 30 minutes - on the top and half hour from the hotel. The staff was - saying this nicely - lackluster. The check-in was stupidly slow. It looked like there was a conscious effort to say "I hate my job" without actually saying I hate my job. But check-out was worse. There was nobody at the desk. A clerk eventually sauntered by and said "drop the key in the box" as she walked by without breaking stride. This was at 4 am - there wasn't much else that needed doing. Apparently there must be a contest to see which staff person can care less. The room was clean - the bed was good. The place was quiet and both the A/C and the wifi were good. The shuttle driver back to the airport was right on brand with other staff. He stopped to pick up some people enroute - maybe they have a side thing to make a few extra dollars. At the terminal he was pushing hard for a tip. After folks go off he there was nobody getting on at 4:30 in the morning so he started soliciting people waiting for other hotel shuttles. I didn't see him take anyone - but he didn't get back on the van to drive other passengers to next terminal - the folks on the shuttle had to wait while he worked the crowd. Some properties have great staff but a poor hard product. This one has a good hard product but maybe needs a new HR person who can hire better staff. You can do a lot better.
