We've stayed at this hotel several times and it's good to see some staff who've been there for a number of years. The gentleman who looks after breakfast does a great job of looking after the guests and keeping things running smoothly. There's a good selection of food options and everything was very clean and tidy. The room was nice but it wasn't clean. There were hairs in the bath, crumbs and other stuff on the floors and there was something stuck to the carpet. We reported it to the Receptionish and were impressed with how quickly the manager on duty intervened and discussed the problems with us to try to find a resolution. When we were leaving we left something in the room and the gentleman who was about to clean the room went above and beyond to find us and return it. WIth his focus on customer service and attention to detail I'm sure the next guest in the room would find it spotless.

Husband and I spent four nights at this hotel. We just returned home today. Hotel location is OK. Not as conveniently located as I thought, based on reviews here. It's about a mile walk, over the bridge over the river, to the nearest T station (North Station), and 1.5 miles to Long Wharf, where most of the ferries leave from. We stayed in a king suite. The hotel/rooms are newly renovated, which was a relief, because the photos on the hotel website are old. The kitchen in our room had a full size fridge, electric cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, and toaster. There were mugs, drinking glasses, wine glasses, silverware, plates/bowls, a can opener, dish towels, pot holders, and paper towels. There was one packet of dishwasher detergent, but no dish soap. The bathroom had a shower, but not a bathtub. We had a "city view" room, which faced the back of the hotel, and the highway, with a lot of traffic noise. Bed was very comfortable. We went to the pool one night. Some reviews mentioned a hot tub. There's no hot tub, just a pool. The pool water was barely heated, and looked cloudy and a bit dirty. The pool really should be drained and cleaned properly. Beware the little market in the lobby. There's no prices on any of the items. I bought a small packet of pistachios, a bag of chips, and a 20 ounce pop. The front desk clerk charged it to my debit card on file, per my request. I should have asked the price, because I didn't realize until later that I was charged that those three snall items cost $20! Obscene! There is a Star Market grocery store next to the North Station, which has delivery. My husband and I just ordered some snacks/drinks from there, to be delivered, instead of relying on the overpriced market. Housekeeping is only every other day. We stayed four nights, and housekeeping only came once. Breakfast was ok. The hot items were scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage. There was a make your own waffle station. It was always crowded with kids, so we didn't try it. Other breakfast items were cold cereal, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, and yogurt. There was coffee, tea, assorted juices and pop. The breakfast area gets packed in the mornings. There's also waterfront deck with tables for hotel guests. The front desk employees were a mixed bag. Some were pleasant. Others seemed annoyed by us. There is a $20 a day incidentals hold on a debit or credit card when checking in, which wasn't mentioned on the hotel website. Overall, a decent hotel, that could use some improvements.

On the positive side: Excellent location with many landmarks within walking distance. The top floor room with a splendid view of the marina was excellent. The room was clean, well-maintained, and of a high standard. The service staff were lovely. Facilities: The pool is a plunge pool, suited to families rather than for swimming laps. The reasonably equipped cardio-gym is in a room the size of a maintenance cupboard and could do with the partition wall to the room next door removing. Poor: Avoid breakfast which is simultaneously a fast-food, high-fructose-corn-syrup chaotic kid-fest, and an environmental mess with no washable, reusable plates or crockery creating multiple bags of landfill-destined trash each day - shameful in the current climate. Residence Inns around the US have stuck to this model for years, presumably to minimise “work” and costs. It’s time to change. As an alternative, there are plenty of good local diners. Despite the location it’s hard to justify over $500 per night for this decent but unexceptionable hotel. To drive this point home, expect to discover close to $100 per day of additional fees and taxes to be added to your invoice, none of which were stated at the time of booking. Caveat Emptor.
