The Renaissance Boca Raton is a poster child for how successfully an old hotel can completely upgrade itself. The process took several years but it was a job well done! The interior of the rooms and bathrooms as well as common area is inviting and a huge improvement over an environment that was sad and depressing. The completely reconstructed pool area is very attractive and resort in nature. Over all, this is the place to stay in Boca. It is lightyears ahead of the Boca Marriott (around the corner) that has had numerous cheap upgrades that are lipstick on a pig.

I would not recommend this hotel aside from the location, adjacent to Boca Town Center and near to many good restaurants. I would not recommend this hotel aside from the location, adjacent to Boca Town Center and near to many good restaurants. When I arrived, a man at the front desk was complaining about bugs in his room (he had pics), so my arrival didn’t start out well. There are NO DESKS in the room - just a tiny table, the location of which makes it awkward to plug in a computer, There is a TV, but NO CONSOLE, nor a bench to put person affects on (like a hairbrush or your purse). There is a built-in metal/wood luggage rack piece of furniture in the room, and I was grateful for the freestanding luggage rack as I had two bags. But I lacked any sort of normal counter. There was no where to put my handbag aside for the tiny table that was full with my laptop and paperwork. Beds were fine. Pillows were passable. You could tell they tried to refresh the small bathroom, but the room overall was tired and kind of dark even with the lights all on. Aveda products were attached to the wall. I ran out of bath soap the second day and it wasn’t replaced. I showered using the shampoo as bath gel. When I arrived, the room had one tiny lotion bottle, which was never replaced. Annoying as it was so small to begin with. Strangely, they replace the tiny bar of hand soap (which was unnecessary), but not the lotion. I ate at the attached restaurant Meat Market for breakfast two mornings - the food was good, service was slow, breakfast cost me around $40 with a tip. Dinner cost me over $100 for one appetizer, one entree, one glass of wine and a bottle of water - very good, but pricy, though the second night they messed up my order (I told them no soybeans and I have a soy allergy - but they left them in - and as they never came to check on me, I had to get up and ask the host to assist). They did nothing to apologize. I was told the manager would come over, but s/he didn’t. Good things about the hotel: - the pool looked nice, but the hours of 9am-9pm meant no morning swim before work - there is a full length mirror in the room - front desk staff was nice and tried to help - this is the first Marriott of any kind that I could actually eat at, offering soy-free, vegetable oil-free options - the room did not have the mildew small of a lot of Florida-humid hotels -lots of great food options nearby - a close, 5-6 minute Uber ride to the mall
