Embassy Suites at the Chevy Chase Pavilion

The hotel was once in a thriving location. But now, the pavilion is desolate of stores. There is a Marshall’s remaining on the outside of the pavilion. The Cheesecake Factory remains inside and can be accessed from the hotel lobby. The rooms are plain and typical. The cleanliness level was not good. There were hair pins (2) on the floor in the bathroom as well as hair. The sheets had marks on them on one corner. I The furniture was good. Couch bed was more comfortable than most. We requested extra pillows and sheets for the couch bed and they came promptly. The staff person was very nice. The complimentary breakfast was NOT good. We have stayed at other Embassy Suites (including the one in Georgetown). Here the breakfast was lacking many items. All the food is behind a counter and is not self serve. (Which at this location is a benefit) They did not have an omelette station. There were only oranges for fresh fruit. They did not have yogurt available, so I asked, and they brought 1 container from the kitchen. There were no milk alternatives or pork alternatives - unless you ask. At other locations those items are part of the breakfast bar. Possibly they don’t keep the food out because there are vagrants in the pavilion that make their way to the Embassy breakfast bar area. The building is mostly empty and open to the public. While we were having breakfast, 2 guests were arguing and yelling at each other because one woman stepped in front of another woman while waiting to be served food. After they calmed down, the 2 women started going at it again at the elevator about to fight each other. A couple other guests stood by filming it on their phones. Wow!! I grabbed my young children and we walked away so they didn’t have to hear or witness the foul behavior. This isn’t the hotels fault, but there were not enough staff in the vicinity of the breakfast bar to handle this as it was only 2 people serving food, and 2 cleaning off tables. Lastly, the pool unexpectedly closed during our stay. My children were extremely disappointed and cried. When I asked if they would provide a discount because that’s one of the main reasons we booked this hotel (pool for the kids). We would have stayed someplace else. They said No. I don’t think we will return to this location. We will stick to Embassy Suites in Georgetown.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Chevy Chase for a long weekend. The location is great directly connected with a tunnel to Friendship Heights stop on the red line (except late night when you have to cross the street). The rooms are spacious and well kept. The staff is great. However, the breakfast is below expectations. It is not cook to order during the weekends since the omelets station closes. There is no fruits, vegetables or yogurt, The pastry is very limited to pre-packaged muffins, like the one you buy from a grocery store. Very unhealthy and non-appetizing. The gym, although of good size, needs some upgrades. Several weights are missing, the treadmills need some maintenance, and the place run out of towels and sanitary wipes without being refreshed. It is a good place but could use some improvements,
