This is my go to overnight stop when traveling from Arizona to Calif. I have stayed here many times over the years and the owners are very friendly, caring, and attentive to my needs. They are constantly making improvements to the property. Clean rooms with powerful air conditioning, a comfortable bed, a well lit parking lot with spaces conveniently located near rooms. Varied breakfast choices and you will inevitably meet people from all over the world at breakfast who are traveling beyween Yosemite/Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks and the Grand Canyon. This motel is a budget friendly and pet friendly choice.

“Well-Run Motel with on-site owners”

This is a smaller two-story motel, with exterior entrances, on one of Barstow's main streets and also near the western end of Route 66. This is a smaller two-story motel, with exterior entrances, on one of Barstow's main streets and also near the western end of Route 66. It was not difficult to find, just a little off the freeway, but we almost drove past it because the driveway is not well-marked. The motel forms an enclosed courtyard, with plenty of parking, and a small pool in the back. I noted several cameras around the perimeter of the building which reinforced the secure appearance of the property. We were checked in by a lady that was apparently one of the owners. She was pleasant, checked us in efficiently, and I later saw her and her husband walking two well-behaved dogs around the courtyard. I got the sense that the two of them lived on the property and did most of the upkeep and room servicing themselves as I never saw any maids during our one-night stay. Unlike most Rodeways, they serve a hot breakfast and the owner was the one manning the grill, making scrambled eggs and simple omelets on demand. The dining area was small, but she ensured it was kept clean and orderly. Our mid-sized room with a king bed was fine and everything worked. Since we were able to park right outside our first-floor room, access to our car and loading/unloading luggage were a breeze. We slept well and I would visit this location again as the rates are very reasonable.

We stayed at the Rodeway Inn for one night. We checked in quite late. There was lots of parking. Our room was on the first floor up some stairs as we requested. It was a quiet room at the end of the row. The room was a good size recently modernised and had a comfy king bed. There was a metal box under the bed which made a loud bang if knocked. The owner was keen to make fresh omelettes and waffles at breakfast but insisted that guests clear their own tables.
