We just stayed for a few nights Thanksgiving week hoping to get in some skiing and it was great. Our little family of three really loved the Christie Lodge. There are a ton of old pictures and old info on different sites when you look up the Christie Lodge. The floors, the beds, the kitchens, the bathroom - all basically new. PERFECTLY SPOTLESS!! Kudos to the housekeeping team because this property is large and it sparkled! Ok... so the price here can't be beat. Are you getting the Ritz for $175 - $400 a night high ski season - no - you are getting a great family friendly hotel that is so comfortable, full of amenities and a shuttle bus stop that gets you right to Beaver Creek in what 10 mins maybe? It's awesome. The thing about these suites is where do you get a room with two beds with a door that closes to give everyone privacy and a full size fridge and kitchen? NO WHERE. When my daughter saw that the couch was not a pull out couch bed but a real bed - a murphy bed - she declared "this is my room close the door on your way out" LOL. So in order to get the set up and privacy of the two rooms you have to enter into a room off the hallway. We had plenty of room to hang our jackets on the coat rack - and leave our ski boots at the door. There was a small deck work space. A closet and dresser in the bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice with it's pretty headboard and functional bed size tables that had chargers built into the lights. Skiing is not an inexpensive hobby. If the Christie Lodge helps more people - families, couples and singles get more time out on the mountain, which I am sure it does, I cannot think of a greater win. I guess until I come back in the summer and get a whole different view of Avon and Christie Lodge. Bathroom had a new walk in shower, new vanity and was nicely finished with good build in shelves for storage and nice pillows. Jack and jill door to the bathroom was nice too. There was a closet with a fan, humidifier and plenty of space for luggage. Shelves for food storage in the hall on the way into the kitchenette/LR. SO LOVED the gas fireplace and not having to deal with wood and keeping a fire going for warmth. Each room has a balcony which is nice too. We were facing 1-70 and could hear some of the traffic but it really just acted as white noise. The couch murphy bed my daughter thought was very comfortable. For the kitchenette the little cocktail island and stools were cute for coffee... and the dining room table sat 4 with a great view of a large mounted HD TV. Full fridge, stove burner cook top, toaster, blender, coffee makers, dishwasher... everything you need for breakfast or to put dinner together. And then there is the nice fireplaces in doors and out. The indoor and outdoor hottubs and pool. The game room. Wine and Cheese on Monday, Movie night on Wednesday. And the Charter Sports - rentals and ski gear in the lobby. The lobby was nicely appointed with trees and lights for the holidays. We had a great reasonable Pho dinner in the restaurant in the building. Hope to check out the new spa in the building next month when we are back. We moved to another hotel after our couple nights at Christie Lodge and our daughter kept asking when we could go back to the indoor and outdoor hotubs. :) Loved that parking is included and the wifi was strong. There are a lot of stairs in the building - the architect must have been on acid designing this place - I just have never seen so many stairs cases - short and full and in between levels in my life. I think it's part of the charm as it the glass/opaque roof that brings a ton of light in each morning and turns down in the evening automatically. The front desk staff were wonderful and so was housekeeping as I said. The location with it's own bus stop is just too convenient and then you are still right in Avon and can walk almost anywhere in 10 mins. At night the ski bus becomes the restaurant bus which is cool too. Walmart and Home Depot are close by as is City Market for groceries. Beaver Creek skiing is minutes away and Vail is an easy about 12 minute drive. Can't go wrong in either place. We just happened to be visiting before Beaver Creek's opening day, Wed before Thanksgiving.
