Go for the views, stay for the delicious food and creative beverages. We had a wonderful weekend celebrating a birthday. It was very relaxing and lots of things to do on the property, take full advantage of the hotels activities and amenities.

Have stayed at the Grove Park Inn since 1984 usually every couple years. Have seen it go through several owners during this time. We recently stayed there for four nights. The entrance in the grand lobby is always spectacular particularly at the Christmas holiday, our recent stay was in July. Upon arrival We enjoyed a cocktail in the lobby area with very attentive service staff, a nice area to unwind after traveling to the hotel. It was nice to see they brought out for exhibit some of the Roycroft furniture that was to the original hotel. Hotel room was supposed to be premium Mountain View overall the room was clean, but a bit dated and shabby, Carpet worn with large chips in furniture. Bring your own lightbulbs as lighting was very dim in the room. Bathroom has a very nice walk-in shower but water pressure was nonexistent. But the positive is they now have bar soap in the bathroom. Last visit we had to go to local grocery store to buy bar soap. We had to ask for extra towels each day and the last day of our stay we received no room service meaning, trash emptied, and fresh towels. When you’re paying $500 to $600 a night I would expect at least to fresh towels and trash emptied at minimum. We spent a day at the spa which we usually do at each visit and as always it was fabulous. They have a great grotto inside pool as well as an outside pool. Lunch at the spa café was also excellent. Dinner at the Edison restaurant was excellent. Had the trout which was fresh and tasty. My traveling companion had the meatloaf, which also was also very good. Staff were attentive. Also dined at the Sunset Terrace Restaurant. Restaurant ambience is lovely, overlooking the golf course with mountains in the distance, outside dining. My traveling companion had sea bass which was excellent and I had the mushroom gnocchi, which was the best I’ve ever had, fresh vegetables galore. We split a Caesar salad, which was also fresh. BUT be warned do not sit at the two person tables along the border of the patio. We began dining at 5:45 pm and the sun was unbearable, we ended up having our drinks and entrées and leaving, which unfortunately was lost revenue for the restaurant. I would be concerned even in the cooler months as the heaters were not positioned anywhere near these two tables so at that point, you probably would be very cold. Kudos to the parking staff much more efficient at this visit, but it cost $38 a night to park your car. Overall, all staff appeared to be more professional, courteous, and helpful than in previous visits. We have stayed at the Grove Park Inn several times during the Christmas holidays and the gingerbread exhibit with all the decorations is well worth a visit. But at $500 to $600 a night for a hotel room I expect everything to be near perfect at minimum. Upon leaving, we debated if we would ever return. We decided that we would most likely make appointments at the spa and skip the hotel stay in the future.

It would be interesting to know how the Spa drives demand for Grove Park Inn business year ‘round as it is the Spa’s reputation has endured for over 20 years and services are consistently good - such as great pedicures for both my husband and myself by Heather. There’s no fine dining option on the property although the prices would contradict that expectation in Vue 1913. Food quality was lackluster. Service was too slow. During summer, the food service staff are stretched as the resort is packed, yet the Bar service staff are well trained and most accommodating - 5 stars there. And the Dueling Pianos at Elaine’s was great fun. The Omni would benefit from an independent research study of guests to determine experience dissatisfactions as there are several areas where service falls short for prices charged. The property needs attention to maintenance in certain areas. Rooms are basic but priced at a premium. Housekeeping staff were very responsive with direct asks, however requests made of the front desk for housekeeping services were spotty. It’s time for Spa facilities to be refreshed/updated. IF a study is commissioned, management should take the recommendations seriously and act on them. We were unimpressed with signs on chairs in public walkways with each one stating to not sit in as they are artifacts. Ditto for pool tables. If historical education is the goal, have seating and billiards replicas made with explanations of construction, style, etc. include QR codes for more info and yes, the ability to sit and/or play a game.

“Overpriced and everything is extra”

Nice historic hotel but quite over priced and you need to pay upfront well before your stay. Everything is extra too. If you want to check in early xtra, check out late xtra. Food is also not very good. No real place to have breakfast if you do not want the overpriced buffet. No ala carte brea... more

No ala carte breakfast but you can grab and go something at their Marketplace which is also over priced. Spa is also outragiously expensive and overpriced. Unlikely to return to this place
