“Nice Hotel, but unprepared in a major area.”

We stayed here at the Hilton Garden Inn DCA for one night on 12/23/2024. Overall, we had a pretty darn enjoyable stay. We stayed in a King Deluxe room on the 8th Floor. It is located conveniently very close to DCA and a very short 5 minute free shuttle ride. The hotel has a nice lobby, and the elevators are quick and fast. Our room was nice with a lot of space, a nice desk, comfortable bed, good heat/air. The bathroom was small; however, remodeled and pretty nice with great shower pressure and hot water. We did eat at the restaurant for dinner in the evening and our bartender/server was nice and the food was good. We had one minor issue and one major issue. The minor issue is that the hot water pipe was very loud in our room; however, again -- minor! The major issue is that the hotel was not giving out Diamond credit. The excuse was that they have a new POS system, and therefore, could not do a room charge and then not give the Diamond credit. This is quite frankly inexcuseable, and they acted like it is no big deal. They told me I would have to contact Hilton Customer Service after the fact, which again is just stupid.

Better in value than some other high end competitors in the area. The ambience was great and it was well-lit. The room was spacious, it had a microwave, which was excellent for winter. The closet seemed like an afterthought. There was a queue to check in and it seemed the staff could not tell who was entitled to complimentary water. Had to ask after after checking in.

“Poor guest service”
This hotel featured modern rooms near National Airport and near the Crystal City Metro Station. This hotel featured modern rooms near National Airport and near the Crystal City Metro Station. It's a short walk to Arlington's Restaurant Row on S. 23rd St. When I arrived in the evening, the front desk clerk checked me in while he was talking on the telephone. He did not give me correct information. I was not recognized as a Sliver Hilton Honors member so I had to ask for my two bottles of water. My rate included breakfast, but he did not tell me that so I had to pay for my breakfasts! He also did not tell me that housekeeping needed to be requested. When I returned to my room the next day, my room had not been serviced. I went to the front desk to inquire, "Is there a reason my room has not been cleaned?" I was told that housekeeping was on request only. He never told me that when I checked in. I then requested that my room be serviced. He assured me that it would be. The next day, I returned to my room in the evening and again it was not serviced. I went to the front desk to complain. The manager apologized and offered me a complimentary breakfast the next morning as compensation. When I went back to my room and checked my reservation, I saw that my rate included breakfast! Had I not checked, I would have had to pay for something I already paid for. As it was late at night and I was undressed, I waited until the next morning to complain. The morning clerk removed the two breakfast charges that I had paid for. Upon checking out, I spoke to the manager to complain about the breakfast situation. The front desk staff need better training. The terms of my reservation and my Hilton Honors status should have been recognized. I gave this hotel 3 stars because my room itself was fine and the location is good. But its customer service needs improvement.

“Nice room and location”
This hotel had a nice room and location! Parking is expensive but is gated. You’ll need your room key to access the parking gate. Breakfast is expensive too but has a buffet and quick service.
