“Adequate hotel for Downtown DC visit”

August 2024. Summary: 2nd visit at this hotel in the past 2 years and kind of "meh" for aver $200/night for 2 people; nothing bad here, perfectly adequate, but I might look elsewhere for another hotel for our next DC visit since I'm sure there are better rooms out there for the price. Location is convenient to Courthouse Metro stop - note the park had some sketchy characters typical of any city, but there is a police presence down the street due to the Courthouse being there. Felt like a safe location overall. Lobby had coffee and hot water in dispensers with a very simple variety of individual bagged teas. I didn't try the Hilton digital room key - just opted for the traditional plastic cards which worked well. Beds were firm but comfortable. It was nice and quiet in the back of hotel, although don't expect a view - was nothing but a head-on scene of parallel condo windows and patios. No bathroom fan with thin walls meant one can hear everything going on in there without other noise in the room drowning it out. Seemed odd construction for no fan seeing we were on the top floor. Free basic wi-fi connected and worked fine on our Android and Apple phones, and the Mac laptop. We never turned the TV on. Some housekeeping details were missed (hair stuck to bathroom ceiling, a flossing pick wedged in baseboard near bed). Free street parking if you can find it and are willing to walk up a very steep incline with luggage to hotel. Breakfast buffet also "meh": included bioengineered yogurt, fruit (I had the cut pineapple which was good), scrambled eggs (okay), hot oatmeal in a pot was fine, with toppings (come to think of it, the "cranberries" really were mislabeled golden raisins), standard miniboxes of cereals with 3 types of milk (didn't see non-milk offerings such as almond or soy), some nice looking mini omelet pies that sadly had a slight freezer-burn taste and a variety of unwrapped pastries in a display case. We didn't try the sausage or bacon, nor the orange or apple juices. Would have loved a simple waffle maker but none was present at the buffet.

“Issues, not a good stay”

We were here for a 2 night stay to find my son an apartment. The room was a decent size for the 3 of us. However, the air conditioner never got below 72 and the room felt very stuffy. We were here for a 2 night stay to find my son an apartment. The room was a decent size for the 3 of us. However, the air conditioner never got below 72 and the room felt very stuffy. We set the temperature on 70° and never saw anything lower than 72°. The 2nd night we were there the cable was out. We were not offered any type of compensation for no TV. Breakfast is $17 per person for the Buffett. It’s not worth it. The food was less than appetizing, not very fresh and the breakfast attendant was very rude to all of the guests that spoke to her. The location is very convenient to many restaurants which was much needed after the issues experienced in the property.

The hotel was in a great location—very short walk to the metro and many restaurants. The surrounding community is pleasant and I felt very safe. The motel was not noisy, and I rarely heard the other guests. However, if you have any issues that arrive that need assistance, be prepared to wait for things to be taken care of. I do not have a problem with service to the room occurring every other day, however guests should not have to wait almost two hours when fresh towels are requested. Twice we received three towels—with 4 people in our party. We also had other issues within the room that required staff assistance. These took a long time to resolve and often multiple requests.
