The bar was very good with unique drinks and friendly bartenders. All the staff was very friendly.

We stayed here for four nights during a conference and liked it as a base but would have chosen a hotel in a different location if we had been on a tourist visit. The hotel itself is charming, not too big, all held in Andalusian style and you can feel the authenticity and history. There’s a lovely library room on the ground floor where a fire was going most of the day and which is a great place to read or work. They also have a nice bar on the lobby level. The rooftop bar was under construction and the Mas tapas restaurant was closed, so we couldn’t try those. And the hotel doesn’t have much else to offer beyond that (i.e. no spa, jacuzzi etc. – I think you can use the gym across the street though). The room was super spacious with a proper desk, desk chair, couch and comfy chair and the bed was very comfy. They have nice Molton Brown cosmetics, and there’s a fridge and coffeemaker in the room as well. I just didn’t find the room particularly cosy given the lighting and furniture, it felt a little cold. There were two sinks in our room and plenty of closet space in the sink area (which is an open space separate from the bathroom with shower and toilet). Despite the reputation of downtown for nightlife we had no noise issues at all, it was very quiet. But we found the downtown area rather depressing – rarely any people on the street, other than homeless people, and not very appealing in terms of restaurants or other offerings and therefore wouldn’t choose to stay here if we came back on a tourist trip. They offer valet service and Uber & Lyft are promptly available to discover ABQ. The town is not that big and every place we wanted to go (Old Town, Nob Hill, Pueblo Cultural Center etc.) was never longer than a 15 mins drive away.

Positives: A hotel with a lovely Hispanic flavour within walking distance of the Amtrak/Railrunner trains located downtown opposite the conference centre. Room was a very good size with a seperate seating area. Love the two sink arrangement The front desk staff were delightful especially the guy with the long blonde hair and the guy who rides the two wheel scooter. Security and valet people also helpful. Areas of concern: Avoid this hotel it is being renovated and many of the facilities are not open. We were not warned about this. Only one lift working so get ready for a long wait at busy times. The lobby area is the only area to get food and drink and I presume breakfast. Very limited and expensive evening menu with wine at 16 a glass. The lighting is too dark and you can’t see what you’re eating. No cocktail menu. Although room was a great size toilet and shower arrangement very strange and hard to get in and sit on the toilet. Shower controls wrongly placed so you get wet before the right temp. Shower head needs descaling and power is poor and a result. High fixed head shower so no flexibility. Location has potential but feels unsafe in places to walk around alone and we were warned not to do so by security. Not near the old town if walking.
