“A tale of two services..!!”

It’s a bit of a tough one. It started really well, the greeting was a little cold but efficient. The room was perfect for what we needed, clean, comfortable and quiet. I’m pretty sure we got upgraded to a superior as well, so that’s very much appreciated. We did a little walk about and the young lady behind the bar in the evening shift was super warm and courteous(I’m sorry I don’t know the name) but she saw our festive attire and made sure we had a table reserved by the Christmas tree all set waiting for us. This young lady is a massive asset to you. On arrival the bar man was upselling the special (salmon with beetroot Rosti) which was super tasty by the way. He was super attentive and courteous, making sure the lady was served first and nice little details like that, which go a long way. This man is also an asset to you (once again I’m sorry I don’t know his name). All the food was super tasty, I really enjoyed the chicken pie and we left happy and satisfied. We come to the morning and breakfast couldn’t have been anymore different it it tried. Maybe our fault for having our expectations raised in the evening. We were on the later side for breakfast but before half 9 (which is a little early to stop breakfast if I’m being fully honest). We weren’t greeted at all, came in and was just told the kitchen had stopped cooking breakfast we literally had to fight to get a few poached eggs and vegetarian sausages. We spent breakfast listening to breakfast staff bicker about being made to work and watching them “work” was borderline painful. They also need barista training, need to know the difference between a side plate and a saucer and to be shown how to put a modicum of love or enthusiasm into there work. The hard work of the evening staff is certainly diminished by others and it’s a massive shame. When the evening staff came in they had to clear the mess from the lunch shift as the staff had not kept on top of cleaning tables in the afternoon. I would recommend this hotel For a Stop off in this location

“Ok for somewhere to rest for the night”

Rooms are a bit dated and could do with refurbishing. Our first room the duvet had a tea/coffee stain that went through to sheets, also empty toilet roll on bathroom floor so obviously not cleaned properly beforehand. Spoke to reception and got another room and this one the toilet flush very noisy… more
