Excellent friendly venue, I stayed recently on a business trip Wednesday to Friday , the rooms were stunning , fabulous facilities and I’d like to say a massive thank you to the lovely bar staff Shannon , Holly & Billy , what a wonderful team you are nothing was too much trouble & excellent customer service . I hope your manager reads this and rewards you in some way .. thanks again for making our stay special.

“A positive stay”

In contrast to the previous critical reviews, we found nothing to complain about here – we had an enjoyable stay and two rounds of golf on the outstanding par 3 competition course into the bargain. In contrast to the previous critical reviews, we found nothing to complain about here – we had an enjoyable stay and two rounds of golf on the outstanding par 3 competition course into the bargain. It's an old building in parts for sure, but that is part of its charm and it seemed well maintained to us. Staff were happy and very helpful, rooms well appointed, beds comfortable and the bathroom was in good condition. The morning cooked breakfast was top end. The swimming pool, heated to 30C was a pleasure to use, supervised, with changing room and lockers, and very clean. Ask for a quiet room avoiding overlooking the marquee for sure (we had room 9 which was fine, and even had a redpoll bird sitting in the tree outside). We did not have dinner at the hotel, so cannot comment, neither can we judge how the place would have been with a big function going on. Overall though, this was a positive experience and we would definitely return. A positive stay

“Average at best”

For the money you spend here, you do get beautiful surroundings, and an elegant building. This cannot be faulted. Our gripes were as below: Ordered double room, got a twin. Room absolutely stank of bleach on arrival, nice that it's cleaned, but leave a window open please! No hot water from the shower whatsoever. Food service at breakfast, cross contamination of utensils between meat / veg (my partner is vegetarian). Basic standards. As I stated, the surroundings are beautiful, but have stayed in places with much higher standards for much less. It felt like the attention to detail was lacking.

“Not the cleanest”

The room I was given had a dripping shower that wasn't attached to the wall, so had to be moved. The view from my room was of ducting and rubbish. Couldnt eat there, I've never seen such a dirty mess outside the back kitchen door. Rubbish every where something had obviously been in the bags 🐀. W... more

The room I was given had a dripping shower that wasn't attached to the wall, so had to be moved. The view from my room was of ducting and rubbish. Couldnt eat there, I've never seen such a dirty mess outside the back kitchen door. Rubbish every where something had obviously been in the bags 🐀. When we went for breakfast there was slug trails all over the carpets. For the prices they charge you would expect a better standard of cleanliness. The beds where comfortable and clean, the staff where nice but that's all that was good about the place. Fair to expensive for what you get
