“Staff Are RUDE, Great Facilities Though!”

We had a great stay here at Hellidon Lakes (minus a couple of bizarrely-behaved staff). To get the negative out of the way first, I was actually left rather unimpressed with the staff here at the hotel. David, at the front desk, was not welcoming at all upon arrival and made no apologies at the fact that the hotel’s machines and technology were down so he was unable to supply us with a key card for our rooms during the check-in time. A real attitude when we walked in and was not a good start for a hotel stay. He was accompanied by an equally-stone-faced colleague. When we were using the spa facilities, Trent, who was perfectly pleasant, was confused about the rules and regulations regarding who could and couldn’t use the spa facilities. When proven wrong, he made no attempts to apologize for the mistake he made though, may I add! The overwhelming amount of pluses to this hotel outweighed the negative though. The bowling alley here was very good, the spa facilities were the best that I had been to in the UK, the rooms felt lovely and clean, were nice and spacious and nice and modern. The food here was very good and the six staff that I talked to at the restaurant were all nice and friendly; did actually go above and beyond to make your stay satisfactory. I will also add that Charn (or Sian - I am not sure of the spelling!) at the front desk was very efficient and professional, so kudos to her. As long as some of the staff don’t have a bizarre chip on their shoulder, we shall be back!

A stunning location and a great hotel. The spa is lovely (16 and up allowed only and you must make sure to reference their website as this message is inconsistent amongst staff), complete with lovely steam room, jacuzzi and bubbles! Lovely and clean too. Spa expensive however (£20 per person). Bowling alley available too - £15 for a frame, so again expensive but I felt that the room rate accommodated this, so all in all, not overly pricey. Bowling alley in good tact and such a cool feature to a hotel! Sian was lovely at the front reception, as were most of the staff. Check-in was a bit lacklustre: informal and impersonal, which was a bit dissatisfying but the restaurant soon made up for this, with some great food (especially the Meatballs!) and friendly staff. We shall be back - thank you for such an enjoyable stay.

Great complex and an interesting course with some picturesque holes. Good sports bar and a great little bowling alley. The food was really good. Golf courses superb and centre staff very pleasant and professional. Some of the members take life far too seriously! The food from the 'fixed' menu was excellent. Rooms clean and comfortable. The drinks are very much London prices. My only real issue is if you don't like chicken and don't want the fixed menu food every night you have to pay full price for anything else. There is no supplement option to change what you eat. I get why with running a business you have to manage costs etc etc but when you're making good profit on drinks, a supplementary charge on any other meal options wouldn't leave you out of pocket and make the customer feel a bit more valued instead of like a naughty schoolboy daring to ask for more!!!! Staff were apologetic and no manager was available to discuss.
