Just returned from the fantastic afternoon tea with carols at Coombe Abbey Hotel. The food was fantastic, entertainment brilliant and Coome Abbey so beautifully decorated for Christmas as always. Definitely our Christmas tradition now

This is such a cool hotel and event spot surrounded by nature on all sides and far enough from the city, yet still accessible by Uber. Friendly check in staff and staffed 24 hours and a very interesting main area. My room was actually alright, but not what I expected in some aspects. If found a switch on the wall that was coming off, another one for a bathroom radio that wasn't put in properly, a sink that was loose and kept turning and then marks all over the walls. The part that was the worst though was that the room was always cold. The heater by the window wouldn't work and I asked the front desk to fix the heat. They said they'd look into it, and nothing was changed that night and I had to use the portable space heater. The following night I had to ask again about the room temperature being so low as even the portable heater wouldn't work and they sent someone up. They noticed the heater by the window wasn't working and they also replaced my heater. This time the small portable heater worked for the entire room and I was finally warm. I didn't find any sockets to charge my phone near the bed, but there are two pullstrings on either bedside that will turn on the lights. The room things are used to finding, might not be as easily found. The tea/coffee area is in a small wodden cabinite that is easily thought of to be just a decoration. Even in the desk drawers there are pamplets and event schedules and such. Other than the issues with the bathroom listed above, it was fine. Good central water flow, and also a bathtub opion if you wanted that instead. The grounds inside are just mazing to wander around through. The entire front lobby area is expecpionally cool looking. They even have a description of some of the ghost in the hotel if you explore. Lots of small events center that at the front desk is a list of all events for that night, birthdays, going away parties, wedding party parents dinners, company outings and so forth. The hotel bar and restaurant are decent as well, pricey, but still good. Note, book directly through the hotel and get a £10 credit for the bar/restaurant. Of course that won't buy much, but it'll help out a bit.

Lovely event with great food and very enjoyable carol singers who encouraged everyone to join in!! However, the event was spoilt for us by rude and ignorant people who decided they needed to talk/shout all the way through the performance. A table of three ladies near to the stage paid no attention to the singers and talked through the whole event. And a large table of ladies at the back of the room were the same if not worse! Why bother going to a performance if you are clearly not interested and then ruin it for others. Rude and selfish appears to be the norm these days!!
