“Great hotel and service”

The staff especially payel was amazing friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the heating within the room that wasn’t working and they were on it straight away which was great. Honestly these guys are very helpful and will do there best to rectify any issues you have

I stay in a lot of IHG properties, for an airport hotel this seemed to tick all the boxes. A free transfer from Birmingham International airport to the hotel runs from 05.00am till 22.00pm every day. The hotel has leisure facilities but do watch out for swimming lessons taking place when you want a swim. The restaurant was of a good standard and the food adequate. The rooms were a little basic a fridge in the King Premium but nothing in it. Comfortable for a night but no more. Staff at reception polite and the manager was polite courteous and very handsome, His appearance was immaculate

It's been a while since I last reviewed this hotel. A few years ago, it went through a full refurbishment programme. The results were amazing. The place felt like a brand new hotel. It was fresher, striking, spacious, and most importantly, extremely clean. It had an open and welcoming reception, new starbucks/ bar area, refurbished restaurant, revamped rooms, it was a lovely place. Move forward to November 2024 to discover standards have really slipped. Yes, many things remain like the courtesy shuttle to airport and railway station, which is fantastic and a necessity. The hotel communal areas are still lovely, welcoming, and warm, especially now in these cold winter months. The Premium room I got allocated appeared clean, inviting, and refreshing. That being said, upon closer inspection, the single sofa was stained in many areas, and the carpets were heavily soiled by the windows. Parts of the furniture had aspects of dried human saliva / dried mucus clearly visible. It was indeed disgusting and revolting knowing a fellow guest had done this. Do they have no respect, manners are they inhuman! Why not use a tissue rather than smear human saliva down furniture. The room had obviously been vacuumed, the bathroom cleaned, and the bed linen had been replaced, but this room needed a much deeper clean. The fabric sofa needs a deep clean. The carpets need a deep clean to remove the coffee stains. and the furniture needs to be disinfected and wiped down. Housekeeping needs to pay more attention here. Upon walking around the corridors, carpets were heavily stained, including stairwells. The place requires much deeper clean on all the communal carpets and a thorough inspection check to be made on fabric furniture in all the bedrooms. Yes, it takes time. It's costly, but it's imperative if you want a cleaner hotel. and it would require possibly closing a bedroom off until it's done, but you require a decent standard. I suspect the owners and management would hesitate before closing a room as this is potential revenue lost per night, per closed bedroom, but it's not sufficient and adequate to merely vacuum room, clean bathroom and replace bed linen, some obviously are in need to be thoroughly clean. Apart from the cleanliness, the standard in the restaurant was poor. Chipped glasses were still getting washed and placed back. Why not have someone responsible for checking the glasses prior to putting them in a stacked area waiting for guests to help themselves. Again, it's time-consuming, but their are values within the hospitality industry, having the ability and insight for multi-tasking, pro-activeness, and forward thinking. This hotel is decent. The staff are friendly and helpful, but you all need a fine eye to detail to ensure regular customers keep returning. Come on, Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport, get back to the way it was at the refurbishment era. Get those standards lifted.

I stayed for 5x nights. The car park gets extremely busy and at times is absolutely chaos. I would hate to own a van or larger vehicle and try to park here. They do say if the car park is full to park at the nearby multi-storey car park. The car park is charged at £12 per night and it’s payment upfront. I’m a disabled badge holder and on two evenings I couldn’t park, and I found other people using the disabled bays without badges. There was nothing the staff could really do when I approached them. One night Mo, the F&B Manager assisted me by placing a barrier in a disabled bay to hold a space for my return one day, which I highly appreciated. On another evening I couldn’t park and the duty manager came out and was quite rude and short when I was asking for his help. There were no spaces anywhere in the car park and it was utter mayhem with cars being abandoned everywhere. After telling me I had to go find a multi-storey car park somewhere else and walk back he then proceeded to argue with another car owner (who admittedly parked across two bays whilst stuck out of the bay and refused to move it.) I then saw a car leave a space and parked in their space, to which the duty manager then came stomping over to me to tell me I couldn’t park there. He took photos of my car and asked for my room number so he could call me to move it if any guests complained. I was more than happy to do this as I struggle with walking, but his whole attitude was unacceptable. He didn’t handle a stressful scenario very well. The room was lovely, a really good size and it even had a fridge! Clean and tidy and I enjoyed the room. There was even a little note written on my mirror, which really made me smile. Breakfast was a buffet and most of the time the food had been sat for a while when I went for breakfast. The first day was lovely and fresh but then after it just went downhill. I did dine each evening and the food was a bit hit-and-miss. The chicken burger with pulled pork came with a spoonful of pulled pork and I was disappointed in the portion sizes. The chicken fajitas were incredibly spicy and I ordered extra sour cream! The pizza was the best dish I had during my stay. It was a new experience of being seated and then given a table tablet/ipad to then order your food on and then you tap the back with your card to pay. You could make special requests on the tablet but there was one evening I didn’t want the peri-peri on the roast chicken and paid. A staff member then came to tell me it couldn’t be done and to choose something else. I then had to go to the main reception to get a refund for the difference in meals, which was settled efficiently. During my stay there was a big conference with guests staying over followed by a dance competition and the place was very overcrowded and noisy. Doors banging all through the night and kids running up and down. I can’t comment on the pool or gym facilities as I didn’t use them. The staff, all in all, were fantastic, apart from my encounter with the duty manager. I will also say that Mo the F&B manager needs promoting as he is more than capable of running that entire hotel. He went above and beyond during my stays in so many ways but always greeted me with a smile whenever he saw me and asked how I was. Just brilliant.
