A very busy Saturday night at this hotel, with the guests from 3 cruise ships, plus football fans, being accommodated. I was given the warmest of welcomes when checking in, from a guy who was really happy in his job and showing a genuine interest in me as a customer. He advised me I'd been given a complimentary upgrade to a 9th floor Executive Room. This provided a great view out towards the river and cruise terminals and suffered very little traffic noise intrusion. Dinner and breakfast were both efficient and there was a good choice of dishes and an overall pleasant experience.

“Good location, but could do with more attention to detail”

Good location at the top end of the city centre, and an easy walk into town. Bedroom was pleasant enough, but really awful quality pillows (and bizarrely only three pillows on a double bed). Good location at the top end of the city centre, and an easy walk into town. Bedroom was pleasant enough, but really awful quality pillows (and bizarrely only three pillows on a double bed). Tea and coffee making facilities (but missed the little biscuits which are usually offered on hotel tea trays!). Bathroom a bit utilitarian in style, but excellent shower. Breakfast was a bit of a mixed bag - good selection of pastries and cereals, but the worst quality orange juice - more like heavily diluted squash - and cold fried eggs on the “hot” buffet, and an unlabelled jug of some kind of green smoothie which probably could have been nice but was so thick that it wouldn’t pour from the jug. Overall fine, but could be better with a little more attention to detail.

“Dirty rooms and rude reception staff”

The reception and bar area is well presented. But the rooms were so dirty. Hairs all in the bathroom. We folded the sofa bed out and there was old rotting food in the mechanism. The runner that is at the bottom of the bed was soiled, and round yellow stains all over it. Stains all over the carpets… more

The reception and bar area is well presented. But the rooms were so dirty. Hairs all in the bathroom. We folded the sofa bed out and there was old rotting food in the mechanism. The runner that is at the bottom of the bed was soiled, and round yellow stains all over it. Stains all over the carpets. The room was boiling hot and thermostat wasn’t working. We tried to call down to reception on 3 occasions and no one answered. We asked if we could pay for a longer check out the night before as we had both finished working late and was told we can pay on our way out but they will make a note of it. Fast forward to the next day, we then got a call from reception (so it was good to know their phone actually worked!) and we was told rudely that we had to come down straight away to pay for the later check out. By this point, we was already awake after being woken up by house keeping and reception calling the room, so we got ready and left. This hotel’s only saving grace is their lovely staff member Lewis who was very polite. Everyone one else just looks like they don’t want to be there! It could be a lovely hotel, but the cleanliness and rudeness isn’t acceptable.
