I have to agree with past reviews. NOT GREAT. This is dated, worn out, depressive and actually , the worst IHG i have ever stayed in. The reception area looks inviting and welcoming. The rooms are depressive and unwelcoming. The bathroom was the weirdest i have ever been in, due to it being the only room available and used for "for assistance" guests ( not that we required this) It had a swing door and the shower only had a curtain which failed to keep the water in, subsequently the floors flooded every time we showered. The bed , bedding and pillows were excellent. Adequate hanging space, hangers etc and neat little ironing board & iron. Multiple guests, while we were there, had issues with the card keys, and could not access their rooms. Many of them had to relocate to elsewhere. We were on the ground floor. Carpets like something out of an old nightclub. Tacky, worn, stained. The staff, as described by other guests , look bored to death, no interaction, no eye contact. No hospitality at all in-fact. And finally the breakfast buffet, the layout looks lovely, clean and welcoming and then you get up close and personal. Dirty tables despite having staff and not being overly busy. No cutlery on the table holders. Separate tray of "spares" on entry to the restaurant but no where near the food station. Fake scrambled eggs, no mushrooms & hard under cooked tomatoes. Not at all great for the vegetarians. (Not that I am but i dont eat sausages), so no cooked breakfast for me. No fresh fruit salad. yoghurt in open bowls not individual. so again no breakfast for us. Cereals in open bowls not dispensers, all very unappetising. Toast it was then.. Coffee was weak & tasteless. Tea, apparently was ok though. Very basic selection compared to the previous 3 we've stayed in this year. Would not return.

I stay in a lot of holiday inn express hotels and have to say this is at the bottom end and has so many areas for improvement At £98 a night I feel a bit ripped off Dated, stained floors and carpets through the hotel and including the rooms First time in years I’ve seen a holiday inn express shower have a curtain rather than a door which shows how long since any work has been done as every other one have a shower door where as here it floods the bathroom floor. Some of the pictures are simply misleading as the bathrooms are the typical one door that covers the bathroom and the toilet cubical within the bathroom - where as some pictures on website show a totally different modern bathroom The breakfast although free was lower standard than other expresses - pre packed stodgy croissants not very nice It’s plus points are the free car park, being 2 mins from motorway junction and a large big badly laid out retail park including supermarket, coffee shops, fast food and other retail I probably wouldn’t return if the hotel hasn’t had any investment in it
