Excellent location opposite Cardiff Castle and next door to Principality Station. Water boat to Cardiff Bay just a few minutes walk via the park also opposite the hotel. Customer service throughout our stay from all staff we encountered was first class. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms well equipped. Bed and pillows very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant one evening and were pleasantly surprised at the standard of the cuisine. The all inclusive breakfast was also good, - choice of hot or cold breakfast foods. Sadly, very little fresh fruit and what there was looked rather tired. We booked via a coach package holiday and our allocated rooms were rather small, and in need of re-decoration and re-fitted bathrooms. We did have the opportunity to look into some of the other double rooms. They were much bigger, had been re-decorated and the bathrooms had been updated. Would be worth checking room size prior to booking. Overall great place to say. Would make a return visit.

I regularly work in Cardiff and as a woman travelling alone I like to stay where I feel safe. I felt safe on this hotel. The staff are good. The breakfast is good. The reception area is clean and tidy. The location is perfect to get into the city, to get taxis and buses and there is a large pay to use car park at the rear. The problem with this hotel, and it’s a big problem, is the lottery of the room you might get; and for that reason my recent stay at the hotel will be my last. In the last 3 months I’ve stayed 3 times, I’ve had one great room, clean modern, decent size and quiet. The last 2 rooms have been small, tired, dated, ridiculously noisy, either next to squeaking and churning lifts, with constant chatter from other guests, or traffic/city noise. Sorry Holiday Inn, you need to do better than this with your rooms in Cardiff central.

The only thing I can say about this hotel is that the location is great. It's near the city center, across the street from the Cardiff Castle. The breakfast was fine. The parking was behind the hotel and we had to walk uphill with bags to get to the lobby. The room itself was very worn. The carpet in front of the bathroom had obviously been soaked as it was puffy and disgusting. The shower was difficult to use. They really need to redo the carpeting to make this a hotel to consider.

“Tired hotel”

A tired hotel in much need of a refurb, my first room smelt of wee, fixtures and fitting very worn. Moved rooms which smelt better but still very tired. Bathroom very small and tight. No power points apart from on desk. I wouldn’t rush back if I’m honest.
