The room was great value. The staff were very polite. The bar served some excellent beers. All my requests were swiftly met. On arrival I was well greeted and made very welcome and given very clear instructions as to how to find my room. It was clear that the staff were approachable should there be any issues. Overall a very convenient locatation with great staff.

“Ideal.”

Great hotel, friendly staff, great location, clean. Definitely will return. Taxi to the centre costs about £5. Arrived early and absolutely no problem checking in early. Check out at 11am which is later than most. Free secure car parking.

I checked in after 9pm as a lone female after a long journey. Check in it's self was easy and quick, which was a relief as I was exhausted. There was no offer of help to take heavy luggage up to room. No lifts. Lights on part of the landings leading to my room were out. Room was a bare, uninviting cream room with badly fitting curtains and dated lighting. Bed was clean but badly made up, I had to straighten and tuck in the bottom sheet myself. It was ok comfort wise for an exhausted traveler for one night. Pillows, however were terrible lumpy affairs, no extras available. No tea tray, just a couple mugs, a kettle and a plastic bag containing what looked like enough sachets for a two cups, left on the shelf in the wardrobe. Ironing board and an cheap iron available. Iron leaked water all over a clean top when I tried to use the steam option. Seriously unimpressed. Bathroom was clean, shower pressure good and water was hot. Room was hot with a heavy sash window that was hard to push open and over looked a busy main road. I went down to breakfast early the following morning. No clear signage, I spotted one sign across the room that mentioned breakfast, so presumed I was in the right place. There were a few men dotted about the room who stopped to stare at me as If I were an alien being. No one spoke to me from the minute I entered the room to minute I left, other than young lad behind counter who asked for my room number. Nothing was explained to me, I had to have a wonder around and work it out for myself. The toaster clearly has temperature issues, I loaded my toast, then choose my breakfast items, got coffee, delivered them to table and the toast still wasn't cooked, it hadn't even changed colour. By the time two slices of warm bread emerged, despite me turning the heat up, the rest of my food was going cold. I wasn't due to to leave until 9.30am but checked out at 8.50am and sat outside watching the cars go by. Which I found decidedly better than sitting in a room that was too hot or braving the Neanderthals in the bar/breakfast area.
