Just returned from a 2 for 1 stay and have to say it was much better than expected and why the 5 stars. Dont get fooled by the front view as inside it is clean and friendly and the rooms large and roomy. Only downfall is no fridge which was a shame but luckily we took a cool bag for milk etc. The bus stop to town is about 8 mins away and the Hop on Hop off bus stop 17 (on the opposite side) is about a 12 min walk. Good to know this for the homeward journey back. Oxford was great even though the first day was grey and cold but we managed to go see most of what we had planned bar the library tour which was full both days (book check beforehand). Beware of parking at the front as at the mo is is often taken up by local builders in the street but the staff confirm there is another car park round the back which we did not know about. (extra £10 per night of stay). The restaurant choice is limited but ok as not much other choice around unless you risk leaving the carpark. The breakfast was ok and if being honest I have had better and more choice in other BW hotels but we didnt starve. We would def come again if we come back to visit Oxford .... enjoy

For those on a particular budget the Linton Lodge really impresses. We stayed for two nights B&B.The hotel is situated in a quiet street about 15- 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride from the city centre. Overall the hotel is bright and airy with a lounge area and bar and sizeable breakfast room. All the staff we met were helpful and 'service with a smile' throughout. Breakfast, as others have stated, is very nice with immense variety; including gluten free. There is even fresh fruit available each day at reception; a lovely little touch. The bar is fine with a reasonable choice of drinks and bar food. The bedrooms are clean and fresh towels available each day, if required. The shower was very powerful and always with hot water - great after a days walking! If I had a 'nitpick' our duvet was a little 'thin' and the tv in our bedroom was located in a rather unusual place on a flat wall in the corner of the room, rather than in front of the bed or on a corner bracket; these did not detract from what was a wonderful and relaxing couple of days. We will definitely visit again.

Staff were helpful, welcoming and attentive. I recommend the burger from the restaurant and the breakfast is also good. I will be staying here again next time, if available.
