“Lovely stay ..”

We loved staying here , cute clean cozy courtyard room , great modern bathroom , lovely sitting rooms , one with a staffed bar , great for early morning, rainy day or evening . We didn’t eat here but food was available. We loved “Gees” across the street , excellent brunch , pricey but worth it . ... more

We loved staying here , cute clean cozy courtyard room , great modern bathroom , lovely sitting rooms , one with a staffed bar , great for early morning, rainy day or evening . We didn’t eat here but food was available. We loved “Gees” across the street , excellent brunch , pricey but worth it . We also loved “ Bella Italia” in town . Easy walk to most attractions . Mass at the Oxford oratory was lovely .

“Not to my taste”

I had no option but to book here as all cental accommodation was fully booked. Firstly I would like to say that all the staff were charming and helpful. I had no option but to book here as all cental accommodation was fully booked. Firstly I would like to say that all the staff were charming and helpful. The room (an Executive!!) was quirky as can be seen from the photos. SO old fashioned with mismatching wallpaper, furnishings and drapes 😱. No 'fridge or air conditioning. By the time I discovered a fan in a cupboard it was too late! The mirror in the bathroom was too far away to see to apply makeup and there was no extending magnifying one. The bath with overhead shower and interesting taps was lovely. There was a full length mirror inside a wardrobe door but the lighting was too poor to see properly. The bed was very comfortable. Lovely biscuits but no sachets of hot chocolate for bedtime😅. The camomile tea had to suffice. The hotel has quaint charm - just not to my taste. To charge £240 for one night (which did include breakfast) was, in my view, excessive in view of my comments above. The breakfast was excellent 👌

“Great location but lacking in a certain finesse”

The hotel is in a great location, with parking which is great for visiting Oxford. Me and my 12 year old stayed in an Oxford Room which was very clean with a comfy bed. The hotel is in a great location, with parking which is great for visiting Oxford. Me and my 12 year old stayed in an Oxford Room which was very clean with a comfy bed. Nice bathroom with lots of toiletries. Breakfast was OK, but expected a bit more. Service was not what I’d expect from a 4 star hotel - my hot food was dumped on the edge of the table without the previous plates being cleared! In fact nobody cleared anything during the time we were there. The main downside was the price. It appeared that I paid £25 for our breakfasts on top of a nightly rate of £185 bringing it to £210. When I checked online the same night was £187. I queried this in the morning and was rudely told prices change and was dismissed quite abruptly. It left a horrible last impression, which is a shame as we would have stayed again. But for £210 a night I’d expect a lot more - it feels like they are relying on the location and not putting in the extra touches to make it truly 4 star.
