Great place! Stayed for 1 night with husband for birthday. On arrival place looks totally quirky and fun, we had a drink in the bar whilst we waited for our room. Cocktail of the week “Surfer Rosa” and Guiness were great. We walked to our room which is a short 2 minute walk from reception, it has a hamlet village feel about it. The room we stayed in was dark but that’s all part of the aesthetic of the whole hotel so if you do t like dark then don’t go. For the women I would recommend you take an illuminated mirror for your make up application. We ate in the English restaurant and the food was fabulous, nothing to fault and worth every penny. The table next to us had the 7 plate taster menu which I think we will opt for next time we stay because the dishes looked amazing and the comments they made made me envious that we hadn’t had it this time. Service from reception, to bar, to restaurant all very friendly and welcoming. Slept well, mattress is firm. Room had jacuzzi bath at end of bed, unfortunately we couldn’t figure out how to get the bubbles to work but in all fairness we could have rang reception for instructions. Bathroom floor heated and cosy. Can’t say a bad word about the place really x

“Amazing room and food!”

I was worried having read other reviews but our experience has been fabulous! Room 12 is amazing-I paid for decadent and it was gorgeous and very warm. Ate in Thai restaurant and food was delicious and plentiful. Service was exceptionally quick and friendly. I am delighted.

We arrived on a Friday night and found the public area to be more rustic than the crazy bear at Beaconsfield which we had really loved a few years earlier, so we weren’t sure. However the meal in the Thai restaurant was absolutely fabulous, although the seating is not very comfortable . It was my significant birthday and this was acknowledged delightfully by the staff, so by Saturday we were really settling in. We were also joined by members of my family and they loved their rooms and again we had the Thai menu but in the English restaurant which is far more comfortable. I think the staff are absolutely the best, from Sophie in the admin bus to Tanya in the restaurant. Who worked so hard and was absolutely professional and thoughtful. To be fair all the staff were just top class, they appear to really love their jobs, and go out of their way to make their guests comfortable. So full marks from us.
