Could be so much more… rooms good, breakfast good, but leisure facilities cold and dirty! The hotel room (too hot and windows locked) was hotter than the jacuzzi and the pool was freezing! Could be so much more… rooms good, breakfast good, but leisure facilities cold and dirty! The hotel room (too hot and windows locked) was hotter than the jacuzzi and the pool was freezing! Stop cost cutting on one of the main key factors of attending! (And highlighted when booking) Breakfast good quality meat etc but lacked organisation… the typical budget toaster which develops lines as most need to toast twice to get a light brown! Beautiful property…. Just attention to detail missing… example room service… no condiments despite asking… and wine delivered with champagne flutes?

“Mixed bag”

This 3 night stay was a real mixed bag. The main house is obviously stunning and had lovely Christmas decorations up. We had breakfast every morning which was nice and well presented. My room although small, it was clean, the bathroom looked new and the bed was comfortable. However, the building my room was in was incredibly worn out and tired, which was really off putting given the grand main house. I have put some photos up of the stairs, door, corridor and main window. There was another external door just didn’t a photo of that was in way worse condition. My rooms walls were very thin, I could hear everything happening in the corridor and was at an end by a door so had constant noise of people coming and going. I also had a neighbour who snored a lot and might as well of been in my room by the noise level. We tried to have dinner the first night in the bar but were told (after waiting to be served for 15 mins) that they wouldn’t do food because they couldn’t cope with the amount of orders they had. We were also told they’d run out of lemonade when we thought we’d get a drink waiting for take away delivery. Another team member then corrected this. During the drink waiters kept bringing food to us and others that we didn’t order and this food was seemingly sent back? Chaotic and for the prices (which are way too high) not really acceptable. The last two nights we ate at a local pub which was fab and gave discount because we stayed at this hotel. Though no one at the hotel told us this?! I’m also not sure how appropriate the portrait in the bar anymore? Not in relation to the late Queen but the balance of the whole picture..? My colleague I was travelling with had a room twice the size of mine which was motel style so didn’t have the noise issues I had so I think a lot depends where you get a room. All in all very mixed and I’d only return if I could be sure of not staying in the same building again.
