“A fantastic hotel working to get even better !”

It’s quite disingenuous to say that a hotel is simply all about the staff and service .. Any leading hotel starts from a luxurious position of grand architecture / views , history & location . “Great service”

Went to Marhall with friends for our low key Xmas night. This place never disappoints and we were well looked after by both Finn and Marcus who were extremely polite and professional. “No hot water and poor customer service”

Stayed overnight at a wedding. Check in was smooth and staff were lovely. we quickly left our bags in the room and rushed to the wedding The hotel itself is stunning and our room was beautifully decorated and a great size too, wedding venue and food were great. looking After the wedding we crashed into our bed. Noticed that we couldn’t get hot water in the bathroom but assumed it was maybe just slow to come through. However in the morning when we went to get showered we discovered that there was no hot water at all Reported this to reception and learnt that there were several other guests without hot water too. Went to the spa, what can I say but that was a disaster. No robes or towels were given to us - we apparently should have bought them from our room !!! We insisted on towels and headed to the locker / changing room. There was a Horrible smell in there and then we discovered that the lockers weren’t working Had to walk all the way back to the spa reception in my towel to report this. I then had to wait for about 5 minutes until another member of staff came and had to use her electronic key to lock the locker. I insisted on robes at this stage and was granted these Spa area was nice enough but very cold around the pool area. I then had the issue of having to go back to the reception whilst wet and get someone to open my locker again Really not ideal !! We returned to our room and then checked out in disgust as our room still had no hot water. I was advised to email the hotel for a resolution. When home I discovered that I had been charged twice for my stay. Fuming was an understatement and I both emailed and phoned reception. I was told that my complaint would be passed on. I then got a wish washy response back apologising. Nothing more, not any compensation or reduction. Several phone calls and emails later, I’m still waiting on someone calling me !!! At my request, my complaint was passed higher up the chain of command and I got an email back from the head concierge advising the hot water had got fixed but broke again. Whilst I appreciate that sometimes these things happen, I’m still waiting on some sort of compensation for having no hot water (a real basic essential in a hotel !) and for the poor service in the spa Absolutely disgraceful way to treat guests. Supposed to be 5*!!! phhhh. I won’t be back and certainly won’t be recommending this place to anyone
