It will be amazing! Needed the work building and staff. Fantastic stay all around. Bedding package is comfy and warm. Daniel in the restaurant was a standout performer on service, friendly and good local knowledge. Food was top notch. There is a lot of work going on refurbishing lots of different areas at the same time architect is local chap builder is from England [Rhino] but can see why lovely guys certainly know what they are doing neat and tidy. Will be back to see the finished project.

“Pure bliss!”

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with stunning views and a beautiful new spa/ pool area. There was some work going on with the new updates, but it was very discreet and did not interrupt our stay. Our room was huge and overlooked the Clyde (Room 9) We booked a classic room, but it had a real luxurious feel, with fridge, robes and complimentary Templespa bath treats! The bed was comfortable with the softest pillows! The staff were really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. They even arranged a taxi to take us into Glasgow (cost about £26) and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was buffet- style with fruit, pastries and cooked options available. We ate both evenings in the hotel and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. One word of warning - the outdoor hot-tub is turned off as soon as it goes dark, as there is no lighting there. So, if you want to use it, get there before dusk! Overall, a five star rating that is well deserved!

Booked in for a one night dinner,bed and breakfast. The Hotel is currently undergoing improvement work, but that in no way spoiled our stay. Staff are very attentive and pleasant without being over bearing. The room was massive and well appointed although way too hot. It took some time to cool the room down. Bed was large and very comfortable. Dinner was very good and again staff were polite and on hand. On check out, there was a minor issue when a bill for another room was added to ours. This was corrected swiftly. Overall, it was an excellent stay. Spa treatments were on point. Well done Mar Hall.

“Not a five star experience”

A group of five of us stayed here on 19th October to help kick off our ruby wedding celebrations along with my 60th birthday. My husband and I were booked into a junior suite. Our son and his girlfriend had a deluxe double, as did my sister in law who had arrived as a surprise. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishments so the reception area was in a room off the great hall. One of the rooms wasn’t available until after check in time but that wasn’t a huge issue as we had decided to have some lunch. Let’s just say that there’s a lot of traipsing involved in getting to your room. I lost count of how many stairs we had to walk up and down and corridors we had to walk along to get to ours and that was even with using the lift! On eventually getting to our rooms, our son called us to say that he thought they had his room and our suite mixed up. Their deluxe room looked over the golf course and the Clyde towards the hills. Our suite looked sideways onto the hotel! We had no safe in our room, just a hole in the wall where one should have been. Other than the fact we had a double sink, I have no idea what we paid extra for. Our son and his girlfriend actually had a safe! My sister in law had booked a deluxe room and there was no comparison between the two deluxe rooms we were given. Her room was smaller, claustrophobic in comparison, was on the ground floor and had sash windows that couldn’t be secured. Not good when in a room on your own. She complained and was moved to a room at the other side of the hotel that involved going through the spa which came complete with a bed so high it was ridiculous and a dead frog in the bathroom! Dinner in the Cristal restaurant that evening was delicious on the whole. Only tiny issue was that someone in their infinite wisdom thought that strong vinegar belonged on a feta and watermelon salad. It doesn’t! Breakfast next morning was chaotic to say the least. It’s appreciated that refurbishment work is ongoing however I can only assume whoever decided on the layout for the buffet has never had to deal with the result of their decision. People were trying to get past others who were making toast so they could get to the yogurts etc. with barely any room for manoeuvre. The poor staff dealing with this chaos had my sympathy. Definitely not a five star experience. All in all I can say we had a decent time but at present a stay at Mar Hall is definitely not a five star experience. I did raise room issues with reception. There should definitely not be such a difference in facilities space etc. when you are grading rooms and suites.
