Another lovely stay at the Crowne Plaza in Manchester. Lot's of new faces but extremley happy to see someone whom we've dealt with over many years, Gill : ) A massive asset to the hotel and a joy to see on the reception as you go through the doors. She must be one of the Crowne Plazas longest serving members of staff? Thanks once again to Gill for her wonderful customer service and to the hotel for a lovely stay. Thanks all.

“Great Stay! Will be back.”

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the beds were very comfortable! It's a small walk from all the main attractions, so suited us well. There was also a bath and shower in the room, which was great as a lot of places only offer showers now. The only negativ… more

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the beds were very comfortable! It's a small walk from all the main attractions, so suited us well. There was also a bath and shower in the room, which was great as a lot of places only offer showers now. The only negative is that the room we had was a strange configuration. The bathroom door opens into the side of the bed, and as the light was on the outside this meant a bright light shone onto the bed, disturbing my friend if I needed to use the bathroom. I will comment that we booked through a third party website and it wasn't clear the room type we were getting. The website makes it look as though you have booked a specific room type when you haven't. This is only confirmed in a follow up message by the hotel, so I suspect they run into issues with this a lot. Fortunately for us, we were able to sort out this issue prior to our stay. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked it again for our next trip.

“Okay - small shower”

Hotel was nice. Shower in the bathroom was so small, I’m 6ft 2 and couldn’t move in the shower. Design in the bathroom seems odd, wasted space with bath in my opinion as most people shower. Way too small. Service good would return again, however would like to know if they have different rooms wit… more

Hotel was nice. Shower in the bathroom was so small, I’m 6ft 2 and couldn’t move in the shower. Design in the bathroom seems odd, wasted space with bath in my opinion as most people shower. Way too small. Service good would return again, however would like to know if they have different rooms with different bathrooms. Sounds picky I know, however having a shower in comfort has is a basic requirement.

“Standards are slipping at the Crowne”

Having stayed here on many occasions, we have started to notice the decline in staff awareness and capabilities. Having stayed here on many occasions, we have started to notice the decline in staff awareness and capabilities. Standard of the One Bedroom Suite has certainly dropped, and the sofa is hard and uncomfortable to sit on. The silver venetian blinds on both windows are now dated and don't fully close. The television kept turning itself off after a few minutes despite the key card in situ. The complimentary hot chocolate in the room is now offered as a poor quality brand. The Club Lounge on the 8th floor, which is offered complimentary to you if you have booked a suite category bedroom, has certainly changed. The alcoholic beverage offering is now offered within a small limited time slot. The range of snacks offered throughout the day is only apples. Yes, granted, you have complimentary carbonated soft drinks in the chiller, but nothing else is available. What happened to the biscuits, crisps, and muffins no longer available. The breakfast was a shambles, gone are the days staff were pro-active, they could multi-task and be friendly and attentive. On our visit, we had a table with no mugs, no cutlery, and advised to wait ! Had to contend with takeaway cups due to the restaurant being busy. The food was not replenished, eggs were congealed, the crossaints had run out and not replenished. The fruit bowls were practically empty. It still had an hour before closing it was just embarrassing to witness. On a positive note, the front of house staff despite slight underhanded chit-chat were friendly. The communal areas seemed cleaned. The bedroom was clean, and the bed was comfortable and inviting. In conclusion, a dated hotel that has clearly demonstrated that standards are slipping at the Crowne. Can only conclude an average rating on this occasion.
