Great hotel to visit Southport, but be aware , only card payments at bar no cash , until WFI went down, very poor WFI, food not as good as we have visited 4 times before. First night peas , carrots, well veg very poor, cakes looked like a child had made them, 3 days 2 nights, breakfast had toast had to put thru toaster 2 or 3 times,otherwise my wife enjoyed cooked breakfast, Staff were amazing 👏, Hotel it self good, has a disabled access at side of building a ramp. Rooms available walking showers, lift to all floors , Weatherspoons opposite hotel, and a pub called Coasters opposite with Sports TV. And music 🎶., entertainment in hotel also.

“VANDALISM ”

sad to see vandalism of newly refurbished gents toilets in the Prince of Wales even as work continues to proceed both inside and out hopefully this damage to cubicle wall can be repaired asap and guests will respect this gracious old building

Maintenance Mishap The hotel in general is clean with a good atmosphere, spacious rooms and good room amenities. It’s regretful that a maintenance guy took it upon himself to let himself into my room whilst I was in my underwear. This was after him knocking and me advising him I’d just be a minute. Lo and behold, he had the wrong room number for a toilet fault he was ‘supposedly’ fixing. This just doesn’t sit right with me and thankfully I’m a man as I could imagine that being extremely uncomfortable for my mother or grandma. I’m aware mistakes can happen but when you knock at a guests room and they acknowledge you, custom practice is to wait and be answered to, not let yourself in. Would I stay again, yes I would. In general the staff here are particularly welcoming and friendly, specifically Jess who works in the bar area. I spoke with reception and the maintenance manager to note my concern and both were apologetic. My issues are clearly based on an individual and who I believe with the right training would likely not do this again, but it is completely inappropriate to allow yourself into a guests room in this manner.

Beautiful building Victorian decor , very clean , friendly staff , was here in a Sunday so very chilled and quite . Great location in the heart of Southport , great mobility access with electric stair lifts etc . Rooms very basic , double bed was very small for 2 people , no safe or fridge , no iron & ironing board just an old style trouser press , had to pay for WiFi in the non communal areas ie the rooms , quality of the food at breakfast was not great very cheap produce . Dont like the fact dogs are allowed . Towels where very small no complimentary toiletries , no plugs sockets next to the beds .
