“An Excellent Hotel With Wonderful Staff!”

We chose this hotel as we were going to the Empire Theatre which is very close by. Also next to Lime Street Station so a convenient location. It was a bonus having free carparking. We chose this hotel as we were going to the Empire Theatre which is very close by. Also next to Lime Street Station so a convenient location. It was a bonus having free carparking. As soon as we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by friendly and helpful Reception staff. The rooms were spotless and beds very comfortable. We had a pre theatre meal in the restaurant which was delicious and again, the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Just wish we could have stayed longer! We will definitely be back!

Stayed her for one night and there were good and bad points to the hotel experience. Staff seemd generally friendly and helpful and checkin was smooth and quick. Finding the carpark was a challenge. Approaching from Pudsey Street or Hotham St there is a big sign on the building announcing the Hotel (good) but there was no sign pointing the way to the car park and at first glance Lord Nelson Street looks to be one way (it isn't). That out of the way parkig is fine and seems safe enough. The hotel is, lets be honest, rather dated and loos like it could do with a refurb throughout the rooms at least. Furniture, whilst clean enough, is a bit battered and marked and the walls need new paper and/or paint. The sink and bath in the bathroom were cracked and chipped and whilst there were obvious signs of repair this really was a bit on the tatty side. All seemed cleam though and the shower was hot and the jets fine (although the head is quite small). There is no aircon so the room got hot overnight; there was a big fan in our room (but not all rooms I was told by our friends) supplied but coud not use it (and sleep) as it sounded like a hovercraft about to launch. Matress was comfy enough and got some sleep although city centres are never that quiet so what can you expect when you have to leave the windows open or roast. Food in the resuaurant was fine with a reasonable selection. Seemed odd that we could not charge to the room either in the restaurant or bar. First time I have ever experienced this in my travels. Minor niggle but odd none the less an irritation. Price was very good for a city centre hotel and parking was included for 24 hours. Breakfast was mixed. Staff did not seem to care much, tea was stewed and the sausages seemed more filler than meat; still the rest was hot and tasty so about acceptable.

The location of this hotel is fantastic as it’s right next to Liverpool Lime Street station. When we checked in the staff were very friendly and helpful. Walking down the corridor we thought the hallway was a bit tired and needed some TLC. Our room wasn’t the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in and the mattress protector underneath the sheets was like it had been melted and so there were lots of hard lumps all over the bed. In the bathroom the shelf had come off and the mirror and had just been left on the side (we told reception and it was fixed for when we came back into our room). The toilet didn’t flush very well. We paid for the breakfast the next morning and the lady at the front sorted out gluten free options for my sister. Overall we found that the breakfast was pretty good.
