We stayed at this hotel for one night to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Upon arrival we found the hotel easily and it took about 20 minutes to walk from Liverpool Lime Street. The reception area is really nice, very bright and airy with a tree in the middle, it gave the hotel a premium, welcoming feel. Check in was smooth and they very kindly upgraded us from a Queen Room with Waterfront Views to a King Room with Liver Building & Water Views, the view was absolutely amazing and I would pay more for this room in future. Our room was a really good size, with a seat by the window plus a desk and seat area. There weren't enough plug sockets around the bed though, only on one side so one of us had to charge our phone on the desk overnight, not a huge deal though. The bathroom was clean, with a shower over bath combo. It had lots of storage space, big fluffy towels and two big mirrors plus a shaving mirror. All the toiletries in the bathroom were plant based, but man alive does the shower gel sting if you accidently get it in your eye so do take care! We visited the pool during our stay and found this to be clean and well looked after, they give you towels at the pool reception so no need to take your own. There was some slight confusion about whether we needed to book, reception said we did but when we popped to the pool reception, she said that's only during very busy times like school holidays. When we went down in the morning, we could go straight in and it wasn't very busy. We also had breakfast the next day and this was really good, I opted for the continental and Scott had the full English. Both options had a wide choice and the food looked and tasted fresh. We both enjoyed what we had and I would recommend it. The staff were very attentive and kept on top of clearing tables and replenishing the food. The location of the hotel is fantastic, we walked along to the Royal Albert Dock, which took maybe 10-15 walking at a leisurely pace. It's also only a short walk into the city centre and it took us about 20 minutes to walk from Liverpool Lime Street Station. There's also a stop for the open top bus tour a few minutes away. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly, we had a good nights sleep and we found it really good value for money. “Wonderful Hotel”

We were in Liverpool for three days for a little Beatles-themed pilgrimage. I saw that several things that I wanted to see were in the Albert Docks area. So I chose this hotel mainly for its location. We arrived by train to Liverpool from Birmingham and took a cab to the hotel. Our room wasn't ready. My friend stayed in the lobby while I went out walking. I thought I'd come back when the room was ready to complete check-in. But when my friend texted me that she had gotten our room key, I stayed out exploring so that she could rest. I found out later that she had to pay for it, even though I had booked it. She didn't mind, but it was an awkward situation. The Albert Docks area is about a twenty- minute walk from the hotel. It's not a big deal if you like to walk, but it was not as close as I had hoped. The public areas are attractive and spacious. The hotel has a bar, a restaurant, and a pool. But the rooms are old and in need of repair. My biggest complaint is that the toilet never flushed on the first try. And sometimes not on the second. Usually, it would work on the third try. But I don't think that a functioning toilet is too much to ask. After struggling with those stupid hand-held shower heads that swivel all over and won't stay put, I was happy to see a fixed shower head. But it was so short, that you practically had to have your back up against the wall to use it. It made no sense. A terrible problem was that the door to our room never closed properly from the outside. If someone stayed inside, they could close it from the inside. But when we both left together, the door would not shut. One time, we reported it, and someone shut it. But we had to go to breakfast one day, with the door left ajar. What kind of hotel has doors that don't close???? Eventually, they told us to close it while the key was still in it. Why didn't they tell us that to begin with? The breakfast was okay, but the coffee was not self-service. I just don't like having to find someone to request a second cup. It wasn't really a problem, as the servers were quite responsive, but it's still not ideal. The quality of many of the ingredients was mediocre at best. I struggled to find my claim ticket after I left my bag in the lobby. Eventually, they saw my luggage tag with my name on it and let me have it. But I did wonder what they would do if I couldn't find my little slip of paper. They watched me search for a long time. When we left, the front desk called us a cab. But none appeared for over fifteen minutes. We inquired about it at the desk, and this time the cab came right away. But we were within minutes of missing our train, due to the delay. The front desk personnel were well- meaning and helpful. But too many things at this hotel are broken down and completely non-functional. If I ever return to Liverpool, I will stay elsewhere.

Location is good. Parking onsite is helpful. Staff are lovely. Rooms and facilities themselves.....are/were nice....20 years ago. Everything is dated. Air con is ancient and barely functions. TVs are small and resemble something my nan would have at home. Bathroom was clean but again just extremely dated. Room fairly small in comparison to other hotels in Liverpool within same price range. Overall...I wouldn't stay here again. Loads of other hotels in same area that are modern and brand new at same price if anything, cheaper.
