Stayed one night for a tribute act. Have visited previously. The building is a step back in time which for me is a positive if you appreciate architecture. Check in was fine. Room (6th floor) was on the small side but had everything needed. Bathroom had bath and shower and a generous amount of complimentary toiletries and well laundered towels. Cleaning was to a good standard, we were greeted by a pleasant, fresh, lemon scent on opening the room door. Bed was comfortable with nice clean linen. The tribute was badly organised, a complete shambles but not the hotel’s fault. Breakfast is complete chaos, like a scrum, manoeuvring around and over people. Staff are obviously working extra hard to keep things moving but this process is being held up by many items missing and groups of guests waiting for them, eg. no tea/coffee cups, no fruit, no eggs, no hash browns, no butter. These items were replenished after a longer than ideal wait but this contributed to people hanging around longer than they needed to and the queue to enter the breakfast room got quite lengthy. In spite of this, staff rushed around in super fast time and still managed to greet people pleasantly and remained polite at all times. The breakfast is buffet style with enough choice of continental and cooked items to suit all preferences. The lift is the biggest nightmare, when you’re on a higher floor with limited mobility, you have no choice but to use it, but you do spend a lot of time waiting for it to arrive, stopping at every floor and it going out of service regularly (happened on both my visits). The other downside of such a big hotel is the guests who can’t hold a drink and scream and yell in the corridors at 3am but that’s life, there are inconsiderate people everywhere. All things considered I would stay again and would like to give recognition to the staff for working incredibly hard with a smile on their faces.

OK here's a honest review stayed from 30th Nov 24 to 3rd December 24 Entrance stunning from a bygone age..our room 179 first floor was huge !! Chesterfield sofa n 2 chairs ,amazing comfortable bed lovely clean bedding , complimentary toiletries ,deep bath that filled up quick water hot no issues there.. high ceilings and thick curtains we had breakfast package ,I would say go approx 30 before end of service as food had been replenished was hot and lots of it and not crowded . Now other points Area as u step out of the lift on 1st floor needs a bit of tlc on doors just paint nothing major..it is tired in places not going to lie but its an edwardian building bear that in mind Now onto the surrounding area I'm sorry to say liverpool shopping area has lost its sparkle due to homeless and addicts approaching you constantly for money . The docks however still lovely a place to walk we didn't of a night due to it being so rowdy we witnessed fights with drunken men , but also a proposal outside the liver building ... Places to eat and drink The globe is a quaint little pub tiny with all the charm of a real pub with regulars ,we were made to feel welcome . We ate at Yates had fish platter Fish chips battered sausage pot of lovely curry sauce £11.95 it was a big big plate of food was hot and absolutely lovely . Neapoliton is a Italian by the aldelphi food amazing service brilliant ... Christmas Market very expensive , down points for me definitely the moody unsafe feeling walking around town of a evening and the train journey
