We’ve just returned from a very pleasant 3 night stay at Formby Hall. We had 2 rooms which, although they were “standard rooms”, I was very impressed with. I’ve stayed in many hotels in my business career, and this hotel compares very well to most of them. Very good sized rooms, big tv, lovely bathroom and a very comfortable king sized bed. My only criticism is the room was a bit dark, which seems to be a common issue nowadays in many hotels. My wife used the swimming pool and enjoyed a Pilates class, both free as a hotel resident. Breakfasts were buffet style, cooked breakfasts, fruit, pastries and much else. We had 2 evening meals with the 4 of us, and the food was plentiful and a good standard. Steaks perhaps a little pricey, but many other choices. Every member of staff presented as smart, polite and capable, and there were a lot more smiles than frowns on their faces. Yes it’s not “cheap” but we paid a very competitive autumn weekday rate which included breakfast, and I think it represented good value. I’d definitely visit again.
