There is something special about meat that has been smoked well. The sausages that I had and burger that my wife had for our lunch were terrific. N top of this there was some pulled brisket in my wiife’s burger that was brilliant and the barbeque sauce that was on it was lovely. My sausages came with mash. Mash is something that we all, kind of take for granted. The best mash i have ever had came from the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas, easily 20 years ago. I have tried to replicate it since then but never have I found or been able to make a mash as good. The mash at the Wild Boar is easily as good, possibly better! I did find the waiting staff were a bit vague, for want of a better word. The two ladies I spoke to when we came in, seemed really surprised when I asked for a table for lunch, I though there was something that I was missing and they were closed. They then took us to a table and left us there with menus, made no effort to take drinks orders and left us so long that I thought I was supposed to order at the bar. After I ordered at the bar a young man came to take our orders a few minutes later. Just needs a bit of a plan I think and people need to be clear on the processes, no big deal. Lunch was really enjoyable and I would definitely goo back, there is a lot that I didn't get to try.

“100% rip off”

And to top it all we stayed 2 nights and spent over £600 and then to be charged £24 for parking is shocking, plus all the extras added to the bill. Book with care here, they seem to wanted to add extra charges for the sake of it, I will be putting a complaint in.

Third time here and wont go again, the staff are helpful apart from the chap in the restaurant who wouldn't change our table at breakfast even though no one was sitting at the table or even used it while we had breakfast. I'm still trying to work out why the cost was over £245 per night (with Breakfast which is lovely) very very expensive for what it is. The room was tired with no real fineses, for the cost i would have assumed the coffee would have been refilled after our first day (basic Nescafe sachets although they do have Taylors coffee bags) The outside looks tired too, messy entrance way with rubbish in pots, dirty green windows and messy outside sitting area (easy to clean). The best part was the alternative afternoon tea and the very lovely restaurant manager, sorry i didn't get her name, lovely, funny and very helpful. Sorry not wanting to be horrible but there are better hotels nearby with a lot more attention to detail.
