We only stayed 1 night but the experience was very positive and we would stay again. Room was a decent size and the facilities and bathroom accessories were as good as any major chain. We booked a B&B & Dinner deal which was really sufficient - there was a £30 voucher for each of us which was more than enough for 2 courses. Food was good quality and the burger I had was cooked perfectly to my liking (pink in the middle) because they can confirm provenance for the beef. Breakfast was great - good choice and the buffet style is the same as you will find in many 5* hotels (and I have stayed in many in my job). We didn't bring our dog but would next time and would take the family room which has garden access. I found the staff polite and helpful and whilst we didn't have time to use the spa facilities they looked good. If we had booked similar in Bowness it would have been 50% more expensive at least.

We’ve just had a lovely stay at the Damson Dene. It’s a very quaint setting. The staff can’t do enough to help you and made myself husband and dog very welcome. we had an evening meal which was really good. The dog can only go in the bar area but it’s a lovely setting overlooking the park and the duck pond. Breakfast was equally just as good. Our room was great lots of towels available. We didn’t use the leisure facilities, but they looked great. There aren’t any walks as far as we are aware from the hotel, but there’s lots of facilities by car. We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay and will definitely return.

nice hotel - shame about new manager (julian) been a few times,but wont be coming back due to the over zealous pathetic new boss. booked bed & breakfast,but it was the breakfast time that ruined it for us,with being watched all the time by the manager and then upsetting my partner telling her we should not take items away from the help yourself buffet breakfast (croisants - yes croissants) that we like to take one each for later in the room pathetic fussy new boss attitude. 5 days we booked/stayed/paid for and this guy julian had to take my partner to one side and tell her not to take away. you have lost good customers who paid good money to stay there and to question that when we paid for breakfast is just ridiculous - stay at 100's of hotels and never been humiliated at any others like here. pity really as its a great location. plenty of other good hotels in the lake district and with good friendly english owners/staff - not romanian boss/staff

I was looking forward to spending a significant birthday here as way back I used to enjoy the TV show that was filmed here. It really would have been 4/5 star if it wasn't for a couple of issues. I'll start with these and then give the positives as there are a lot. We had no hot water, both in the evening and in the morning. I had to have a cold shower, we were checking out after breakfast so knew they couldn't fix it but I did mention it to the receptionist so they could take a look once we'd checked out. The rooms are uncomfortably warm and it wasn't even hot outside so I can't imagine what summer would be like there at night. We had all our windows open so perhaps air con could be an option for summer months. The final room for improvement would be the pool/gym facilities. These areas need some tlc, especially the gym and changing rooms. The pool was nice enough but the jacuzzi and steam room weren't very hot. The positives far outweigh the negatives though and the rest really was brilliant. The setting of the beautiful garden is very serene, the restaurant overlooks the pond adding to the experience. The food does not disappoint, it was the best part of our stay! It was all amazing, I could happily eat there every day and the service was lovely too. The kids' meals were brilliant! Just like mini adult ones so our children felt very grown up! Breakfast was impeccable too. At first I was disappointed it was self serve, but it was all fresh and hot and there was a very good choice, even for vegetarians. The only very slight criticism was the coffee was lukewarm. We were happy with the size and layout of our family room (it was just the lack of hot water that let it down). The chocolates they left me for my special birthday was an added bonus! The luxury glamping pods look amazing so may enquire about those in the future as they're dog friendly too. With slight improvements this hotel would be the perfect stay.
