“Pretty good, but crikey... they know how to charge!”

Good location, and of a pretty cool look, and the facilities within are very good, and the breakfast superb: the bar prices are, however, extraordinary! The most disappointing thing was, however, the in-room air-con., as it simply would not produce cooled air! Otherwise, all pretty good.

“Not the “new castle” I was after”

Whilst enunciating with the PA I informed him I was in the market for a “new castle”. There seemed to be some confusion when the next day I was taken to Newcastle. We arrived at the Hilton Gateshead looking forward to relaxing. Following an incident on a previous hotel stay I now have the PA carry … more

  • The top reviews of Hilton Newcastle Gateshead are: My wife and I attended the hotel as we were participating in the local Night Shine Walk, a charity walk for Cancer Research and this hotel was the perfect location. And a great weekend was had by all, it must be said. From the seamless checkin (we received a very polite and personalised text during Saturday morning informing us the room was available well ahead of the expected 3pm time), to being greeted extremely capably by LIzzi (I think) on front desk who handled all our daft questions with such empathy and humour. Dinner was greeted very well indeed by Kristina, who ensured that our dietary needs were met without any effort (dinner was delicious by the way and set us up nicely for the evening walk ahead). Kev, Yuliana and Gracjan who so graciously and with such good humour were the perfect hosts for the remainder of the night and served us so efficiently, never once having to ask us to repeat orders as they so obviously recognised we were very happy with the product (Camden Hells - very nice). A special mention also to the bar team who were so very quick to offer support to the concierge etc (I think) when a slightly disruptive guest decided to be a bit too loud and fruity with the language - I know it happens everywhere, probably most nights, but the situation was identified, calmed down and stopped without any major disruption, and it certainly didnt spoil our enjoyment. The room itself was spotless and very comfortable, the lady in executive lounge Saturday pm (sorry didnt get your name) was really lovely, and Lizzi (again I think) was very efficient indeed upon checkout, remembering the conversations we had the previous day during checkin, and even recalled where we parked the car!! Overall an extremely pleasant stay and we'll certainly be returning when next in the area. The only very minor downside, and I know some might disagree but I suspect (and hope!!) many may agree - the only blot on the weekend was the very many kids in the bar area very late on Saturday night, who appeared to be without obvious parental supervision, and who frankly ran amok, even falling into the reception area 'pool' at one point. I have no idea to how to police and stop this, and accepting I have kids and now grandkids myself so I can empathise to a very small degree with the parents and certainly with the staff, but the constant running around, playing in the lifts and generally just being a nuisance very late into the evening (we had our final drink past midnight) certainly put a minor blight on the weekend - Im all for families having their time away too (I do plenty myself with granddaughter) but could some parental supervision be imposed and insisted upon after certain times?? Just a thought, and I promise I'm not just a miserable old so and so (I know one or two other guests also similarly commented) and it certainly wont stop us from returning. Many thanks from my wife and I for a great weekend, and well done to everyone who attended the Night Shine Walk and raised such an impressive total!!!.
