Excellent location right in the centre. Free parking. Really friendly and helpful staff (which seems to be a thing everywhere we went in Frome) lovely big room which was very clean. Absolutely incredible value for 2 night stay, once you take away the cost of the 4 breakfasts and the 3 days parking it is such good value considering how lovely it was. Really fantastic and we will come back again soon. The only minor criticism I could think of if I was trying to be really picky is the bathroom needed a lick of paint but to be fair it was very clean and well equipped so was not an issue at all.

We spent a night here and were very pleased with The George. If you use the secure parking you need to get the code from the reception in the Bar. It was easy to use but a big car or SUV might struggle with the parking. Getting our key was easy and we were very pleased with our twin bedroom. The room itself was smallish but everything we needed was there. Nice selection of teas, coffee, biscuits and large cups. The bathroom was quite big and had shower and bath. Large soft towels and a shower mat to use in the bath was a good touch. The Wi-Fi very good and easy to get into. Great choice of breakfast dishes. We came on a Sunday and had the best roast we have had in a long time. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We would certainly go back there again.

“An Evening Spoilt By Loud Music”

I live within walking distance of The George Hotel and we often meet friends for drinks. However yesterday evening the bar area was very busy and the music was played very loudly. Customers were shouting to be heard above the noise and it was not a pleasant experience. Even when customers began leaving the music was very loud. We were pleased to leave as our experience was ruined by the noise preventing normal conversation.

Pros: • Comfy bed • Friendly staff • Great location for wedding venue (Rook Lane Chapel, just up the road) • Breakfast was good • Price was not bad for a full weekend • Downstairs area was really nicely done, lovely bar and public area Cons: • Unfathomable amount of stairs, constantly going up and then down and then back up again to reach room • Room did not reflect the pictures on the website at all • Very noisy – right onto street, traffic noise, local youths screaming shouting and setting off fireworks. Single pane windows so no chance of muffling noise. • The room was very dark and gloomy. Light was very poor and didn’t want to lift up blinds due to (2) above and not wanting the whole of Frome to see me getting dressed. With no natural light, I would have appreciated a better overhead light. • Property a bit neglected and in need of some TLC. Shabby carpets, badly chipped paint and missing chunks of laminate floor around the toilet • The tiniest shower and sink in the tiniest shower room known to humanity • “free parking” – they had approx. 10 spaces for 28 rooms, in the weirdest little lockup that involved a 7-point turn around a pillar, then 5 minutes of trying to reverse park in the smallest, tightest space possible. Overall: It was a base, as we were there for a family wedding so we didn’t really spend much time there. Had we been on a holiday or mini break, I wouldn’t have been happy with it, but it served the purpose we needed it to. It’s a pub with rooms, rather than a hotel. Would recommend if: you need a base in the centre of the town, with a good breakfast thrown in Would not recommend if: you have mobility issues, are a light sleeper, are looking for any kind of luxury.
