“Brilliant massage”

Brilliant massage by Natalie, really relaxing and great spa session. Friendly welcoming team, spa is a hidden gem (but don’t come because we want it all to ourselves). Lovely garden and bistro, would really recommend for anybody looking to unwind.

We came to Exeter as we were taking my mum to the Exeter Chiefs rugby game as her Christmas present. We had the most excellent stay at Hotel Du Vin and couldn’t recommend it more. The first thing to say is that it’s well located for Exeter Central station - about a 12 minute brisk walk/15 minute stroll past the Cathedral, and about the same to the lovely Exeter Quayside area. We started our stay with a fantastic meal in the bistro - sat out on the patio in the sunshine, utter bliss! Food was delicious and service very good. We checked in to our room, which was simply lovely - comfy bed, great size, good shower & bath and all the decent amenities. When we got back from the match, we had some drinks and a really nice light supper in the bar - croque monsieurs and avocado on toast, washed down with cocktails! First thing in the morning, I enjoyed a swim in the outdoor pool, which is heated just enough to make it comfortable. You swim through from the inside hydro pool and it’s just a perfect calm space to soak up the sun. Breakfast was lovely - good continental selection and a good menu of items that are cooked to order, from Full English to French toast, Eggs Benedict and more. Overall, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel - we had a fabulous stay.

Stayed one night on a glorious getaway package which is bed breakfast and 3 course evening meal and bottle of champagne Arrived early and they accommodated bag drop off do we build go exploring Exeter. Hotel is very nice and clean. Reception staff lovely . We has the comfy room ,small but very nicely appointed. Meal was lovely although there is a surchargeon main courses over £20 on the deal we were on. The breakfast is top notch ,service great The gardens are very nice , we didn't use the pool . All in all, good value ,great staff ,great location and great food .

“A good location is its saving grace”

Our first visit to this hotel was a disappointment, the location of the hotel is perfect for the cathedral, the quay and the shopping area. We booked a deluxe room which felt anything but, it was on the 3rd floor and was very dark, there was only one very small window so we had to put on the lights. The bed was supposed to be King or super king but seemed to be somewhere in between a double and a king. The bathroom was fairly spacious but a high sided bath meant quite a step in and out. The separate toilet was very narrow with a small sink you had to be careful not to hit. Opening the curtain on our last morning the whole curtain and rail came crashing down. Whilst we only sat outside, the pool and spa looked very good, there are a few Sun loungers and deck chairs on the grassed area making it a nice area to relax. Breakfast both mornings was excellent, freshly cooked hot food with cereals, yogurts etc you helped yourself. Dinner wasn’t the best, we had to send the two vegetable sides back as they were cold, the mains weren’t much hotter. The starters we had were however excellent. There is no draught beer and a small bottle of beer £5.50 making it close on £10 a pint, expensive and not value for money. There was only one person serving and if they went outside to collect glasses etc you had to stand around waiting for a while. We booked the hotels parking at £20 a night, when we arrived our space was clearly marked with our name. We were out all the next day and arrived back to find our name had been removed, we were allocated a space but under someone else’s name! Having had a disappointing experience we would however stay again as it is in a great location.
