“Not a 4 star experience”

Yes, guests at Thistle Trafalgar Square Hotel have highlighted that: Just stayed as a family of five for three nights. The beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet. This was very much appreciated as it’s not always the case when travelling. We have stayed in London before but as this is June and peak tariffs apply I knew we were mostly paying for a central location and I think my expectations were reasonable. We paid over £2,500 for three nights and two rooms. We got around as planned but the hotel itself was disappointing . 1. The rooms didn’t feel very clean with visible dust on doors , lamps and tables. The windows are in need of maintenance imho with lots of chipped paint and wear and tear visible. They do not open as they are encased in perspex. 2. The bathroom could do with some tlc and the shower was very poor. The shower head was powerful but immovable from a position almost aimed at the ceiling. It pummelled the wall and the floor with water while I danced around trying to get wet! 3. I would also note that the reception staff we observed never acknowledged guests coming or going. This studied rudeness was especially noticeable as the reception desk is door and street facing. Great hotel for being at the heart of things but will not return.
