We went to the newly refurbished bar and afternoon tea room after the Grill . Great cocktails at the bar and a great conversation with the bar man . Amazing cocktails and snacks . It made me want to book the hotel when we return to London for our bi annual visits

My husband and I had a wonderful breakfast at the Savoy with incredible service - we can't thank Matthew enough for his wonderful hospitality. It was my birthday and it couldn't have been a more special start to my day. The good was delicious and we were made to feel very special.

We went to the Gallery room for afternoon tea. Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way first off: at £600 for tea for 4 people, each finger-sized 'sandwich' costs £10 so about £5 per mouthful. If you can suspend all rational and ethical ideas about what things are worth, the rest is close to perfection. The service was helpful, warm, delightful even, whilst remaining extremely professional. The atmosphere was grand, yet comfortable, with a grand pianist and beautiful decor. Oh yes, and the food was excellent with great vegetarian and vegan options and the champagne was exceptional. So you're paying for the experience and as long as you know that, it's a very happy and memorable one.

Wonderful way to experience London, even for a London. I took a pre-Christmas staycation at the Savoy and it was definitely an absolutely treat. The check in was warm and friendly, albeit quite busy understandably when I arrived. And the reception area has a wonderful atmosphere with plenty of area for people to sit down. My rooms was simple but spacious and very tastefully decorated with high ceiling and desk space, seating and all the amenities needed. The bathroom was similarly well appointed with Penhaligons toiletries and a large deep bath. When I arrived in the room there was a sweet handwritten note, and homemade mince pies. From the room I was able to see the Thames, which was lovely in the evening and at sunrise. The hotel is a stone's throw from so many great spots, including the Southbank, Royal Opera, Covent Garden and many theatre venues so it's easy to fill your days with a range of activities. I had room service which seemed fairly priced for such a nice hotel. It was a little hard to get through, although given the Christmas period this was understandable. I had drinks one evening in the main restaurant / bar which is very pleasant. With great drinks and an interesting atmosphere. I also had drinks in the American Bar which is a definite must for visitors, especially lovely is the piano playing. And the cocktails are impressive. The gym is very nice. It's fairly small, but has all the equipment most could require, and it's immaculately clean with towels, water and protein balls. There is also a small swimming pool. The red lift is worth experiencing, as the oldest lift in London. Overall the Savoy is an absolute experience, especially at Christmas time and worth the considerable cost.
