I think the negative reviews on here are unfair. I found this hotel to be a great option in central London. People that leave negative reviews have not don’t their research or have unrealistic expectations. Room size: all of the sizes are clearly listed on their website. It should not be a surprise to anyone if the room is too small! We got a superior double. I think the room would have been unlivable without the sitting room because that’s what we used for our luggage. The bedroom part did not even have space for two nightstands. Definitely no space to open up a suitcase there. So I would 100% get the superior double again for that extra space for my suitcase. I do wish they didn’t have a wall between the bedroom and the sitting room. It really would’ve opened up the space a lot better. Bathroom: tiny shower. But at least it’s a separate room with an opaque door. I don’t know what this absurd trend is lately for hotels to only have a glass partition between the bed and the bathroom! This is more traditional which I prefer. The reason st Giles lost a star for me though is that 2/6 of my showers didn’t have hot water. I’m an evening showerer and seems like hot water runs out. My boyfriend who showers in the morning did not have this issue. Location: walkable to everything or take the tube with its three lines or plenty of reliable buses. Many bars and restaurants so when you come back from sightseeing you don’t have to go far for a good dinner and drinks. Noise level; this was not an issue for us. We were in 616 away from the elevators. If the window is closed, you cannot hear the street noise. Room temperature: the room is very hot even when it’s not hot outside. Our room had AC. Another reason to get the superior double. Look up online and make sure the room has AC. You will need it. The AC ran non stop and it was moderately effective but the room never got cold. If you want to cool off the room, leave the windows open during the day and close them at night with AC on 24/7. Elevators: three out of four elevators are operational. The delays are not as bad as they were based on prior reviews. They’re working hard on making things better. I probably waited at most five minutes for an elevator ever. Outside of peak hours (8-10am) or (4-7pm), you can get an elevator immediately. Luggage storage: they stored our bags for free on day of arrival. All in all, the pros vastly outweighed the cons and I would stay here again.
