“Lying Receptionist 🤷♂️”

I would still recommend Rest Up Hostel, for value and location it’s a good spot. The beds are comfortable, showers clean, nice TV room to relax and a good vibe around the place. I do have a small issue I would like to bring to the owners attention though; I arrived at 8:30am and now I know check-in isn’t until 15:00. But I asked if I could pay a fee to check-in early, as I’ve done in 1,000s of hostels and hotels around the world. This would have been very helpful to me as I had been travelling through the night. He said no, just flat out no. So I said fine and come back at 2pm and asked if it was possible to check in now? I was still willing to pay a fee, as I had to go out. He said the bed wasn’t ready, which I knew wasn’t true. First of all, it was a Thursday and in the midst of Coronavirus nowhere is fully booked at the moment. Secondly, housekeeping have a full quota of rooms and beds to clean and he’s trying to tell me that they leaving the cleaning until the last minute. So I didn’t check in and just had to take my bag with me all day until I got back at 10:30pm to eventually check-in. Not that I needed proof, but when I finally got into my dorm room, I asked a guest who had stayed the previous night and she told me there was spare beds that didn’t get slept in the night before and housekeeping had been around very early to sort the beds and rooms out. So your receptionist lied to me twice, costing the hostel money. There was room for me to check in at 8:30am and the beds had been cleaned long before 2pm. Very strange for him to outright lie to me, especially on stuff that is quite clearly not true. But he chose to behave like that and for that reason I won’t be back, but like I say, the facilities are good value and the location is good too, so I will not leave a negative or low star review. But I would appreciate some feedback from management why your reception staff decide to outright lie to me and make my life difficult. Cheers, Dan.

“Great for families, close to tube station”
Spent 4 nights in 2017. Great for groups of 4. Bring earplugs. Great young atmosphere without bars or nightlife. Bathrooms excellent. Spent 4 nights in 2017. Great for groups of 4. Bring earplugs. Great young atmosphere without bars or nightlife. Bathrooms excellent. The walk from the tube station may be intimidating at night but just walk with confidence. Good supermarkets near tube station. Purchased the 10 day london pass and bought and Oyster card. This is not luxury but you are in central London and out all day so you can’t ask for more. Free locker hire on last day which was great. Great price.

“Cheap quarters with good service.”
If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, with staff that give you excellent service and makes you feel welcome, this is the place. Ok - it is lot luxurious - far from it. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, with staff that give you excellent service and makes you feel welcome, this is the place. Ok - it is lot luxurious - far from it. But when I travel, the hotel is for sleeping and I do not need more than a clean bed and a bathroom. Rest Up has both. The room was small, but clean. The bed a bit hard, but I slept well and woke up without refreshed. The bathroom was... even smaller, but I am a big guy and it was sufficient. What struck med the most was the atmosphere. The people at the reception (open 24 hrs) made me feel welcome and so did the other guests. The Rest Up is only a 8 min walk from the tube and there is a busstopp just outside.
