Chelsea Bridge delivered as usual. Our room was great. Very clean and well serviced throughout our stay. We ate in the bar and the service and food was excellent. Breakfast offered a good choice and it was plentiful. The staff are very attentive and do a great job in every department. Well done Chelsea Bridge. We will be back again soon in 2025.

“Birthday stay”

Thank you to Andrea for letting us check in early and for the upgrade for my husband’s birthday. Lovely stay and so close to Battersea Power station so perfect base for popping to shops and restaurants there. We both slept so well. Also enjoyed a lovely swim in the pool.

We stayed here for a couples staycation. We used a third party booking system online and were met with no complications at check in. I will say breakfast was a low standard. Food quality wasn’t great and lots of cross contamination. The breakfast room itself was nice and bright. Our room was large and had nice furniture but again missing the added flair. Spa was clean and well kept. We were hoping for a more atmospheric bar but the lights were very bright and the service was strained.

Not a great hotel The Pestana Chelsea Bridge is just okay. It's definitely not a hotel you will love, or one that you will want to go back to. The location is on the far west end of town, so you'll need to take a taxi to get to the West End or wherever you want to go in the city. It's next door to the Power Station shopping and restaurants, so that's nice, but everything else requires a taxi ride. As for the hotel itself, we always had the feeling that the staff (mostly friendly and well-meaning) were struggling with the system as much as the guests. Check-in time is an absurd 4:00pm. So in the afternoon, the lobby fills up with unhappy, tired travelers waiting for the clock to strike four so they'll be allowed to their rooms. We realize the 4pm check-in is becoming trendy in the industry, but we hate it and this alone is reason enough not to return to the Pestana in the future. It is something designed for staff rather than guest convenience. Why can't the hotel meet the standards of the 1990s, when hotels had 1:00pm check-in times? The interesting thing was that during our stay, our room was always cleaned by 1:00pm, so the cleaning staff was obviously capable of preparing rooms earlier, so why the absurd 4pm check-in time? Another aggravation is the complicated breakfast system. Some guests have a pricing package that includes their breakfast in their daily rate, others don't. They need to choose among three breakfast options: continental, English, or a la carte. As a result, every single day we went down to breakfast we found the restaurant staff arguing with unhappy guests and trying to get people to make choices and pay for things, when all they wanted was a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. This is a solvable problem: one flat fee for breakfast, that is either added to the room bill or paid at the restaurant. Why set up a system that stresses your staff and guests for literally no reason. We also noted that guests ordering a drink in the lobby bar need to be "pre-authorized". We had no idea what this even means, we've never heard of it in a hundred other hotels we've visited, but it's another example of the Pestana making something hard out of something simple, and doing it in a way that aggravates guests. Also, during the entire week-long stay, one of the three elevators was broken. Not sure why, but it didn't seem to be a priority. It made for long, unnecessary waits as the other two elevators were in perpetual motion. The room itself was ok, nothing special, a bit dirty. No clothes iron. Only four clothes hangers in the closet, and when we asked for more, then man brought three and apologized that he couldn't find any more in the hotel. We had to call the desk several times during our stay for the toilet paper and hand soap to be replenished, not sure why the cleaning staff failed to do that. The mini-fridge in the room didn't work -- the light came on, but it didn't get cold. Just a run-down room that needs more attention. This hotel felt like the death of a thousand cuts. Every day was a new, small indignity that made us realize the Pestana Chelsea Bridge is not up to standard. We won't be back.
