On 23 January 2020, the new Balearic Law against Tourism Excesses entered into force, which prohibits all-inclusive deals with unlimited alcoholic beverages. Only a maximum of three alcoholic beverages per guest will be served during lunch and/or dinner.

Practices which may endanger the life, health and physical integrity of guests are strictly prohibited at hotels, apartments and holiday properties. These practices include climbing from one balcony or window to another and jumping from inappropriate places such as balconies into swimming pools (a practice widely known as ';balconing';). Guests breaking the law will be immediately banished from the property and may be fined, states the law and the corresponding municipal regulations. The hotel/apartment manager or property agent must order said guests to leave immediately, which may require assistance from the security forces.
Failure to comply with the prohibition of practices which may endanger the life, health and physical integrity of guests will be considered a serious offence. In the Balearic Islands, serious offences are subject to a fine between 6,001 and 60,000 euros.

I have been staying at the Boka Hotel for many years but in recent months it has been booked up when I have tried to get a room. I was therefore very pleased to be able to stay there again recently when in London. I have been surprised to see reviews complaining of cleanliness issues as I have never had a problem. Ok, the building is old and the furniture basic but I have always found rooms and bed linen/towels very clean and fresh. Some en suites may be small but as usual mine was clean and the shower worked well even though I was on the third floor, which in older buildings can sometimes be a problem with water pressure.. The location is ideal, a couple of minutes from the tube station, and the staff friendly and helpful. This stay was as good as previous ones and it was lovely to be back there.

The Boka is OK for a short stay in London on a foirly tight budget, but is very tired. My room unexpectedly had a microwave, fridge and sink, as well as a second double bed on a mezzanine above the kitchenette - but no-one would have been able to sit up in it without banging their head! The downstairs bed was OK; I couldn't get any hot water from the shower (although after my cold shower I discovered an unmarked switch that may helped) and there were no towels when I arrived, although this was soon rectified. The area is generally quiet, but the large single glazed windows let in a surprising amount of noise from passers by. It's convenient for two tube lines, buses and Santander bikes.

A few minutes walk from West Brompton and Earl’s Court Tube Stations for excellent connectivity all over London. If you must, then it’s also walking distance to Stamford Bridge. The hotel is reasonably priced, £75 per night for my single occupancy room. The room was clean but basic, but thankfully included a fan. Bathroom was the worst aspect, very small and tight, but I’m a tall guy, if you’re a small person this might not be as much of an issue. Staff friendly, good amenities nearby, e.g cafe for breakfast…
