“Comfortable, convenient place to stay in Old Town”

This hotel is very well located in Old Town, near the Royal Mile. The staff was helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and had every amenity. Unfortunately we had a view of construction and recycling dumpsters from our room windows. However, the location, service and charm made up for this.

Hummmmm so as you have no doubt read already the hotel is undergoing construction work to half of the hotel. Hummmmm so as you have no doubt read already the hotel is undergoing construction work to half of the hotel. Once again we were not told of the current work ahead of our stay and sadly our room overlooked this. It has to be said that as a room it was clean, modern and stylish with comfortable beds although we found it very warm on a night and found if we opened the window we were woken by the construction workers who turned up at 6:45 and started work at 7 sharp. We didn’t try the restaurant so can’t comment on that but reception staff were efficient and friendly. It’s a great location 2 min walk from the station and ideally located near the royal mile. The construction work is a consideration if booking but we’re were out all day, back for a shower and back out again so didn’t spoil our visit and would definitely recommend once it’s done and stay again in future.

“Hotel and staff lovely, but construction work and bins caused poor sleep”

We booked this hotel as a family trip to Edinburgh a few months before the anticipated trip. We booked this hotel as a family trip to Edinburgh a few months before the anticipated trip. I requested the rooms to be close by to each other, and when we arrived and checked in, the rooms were only a couple doors down from each other so this was really good of them to accommodate for us. The check in process was really good with each member of staff being really friendly. We were also offered a glass of prosecco which was a nice touch. Unfortunately we realised that the hotel was undergoing some works as soon as we were on our way to the room. This wasn't highlighted when we booked and thought that the hotel should have informed us of this when booking as we would have stayed elsewhere should we have known. Regardless, we gave the benefit of the doubt and thought that it might not actually be that noisy. To be fair, we never heard any of the construction works going on when we were going to bed, but were awoken by them when they started work in the morning. The room itself was really lovely and big enough for our couple nights stay. The main issue was the lack of sleep we managed to get as our room was right next to where the bins are kept, so we were awakened each morning at 7am by the sound of rubbish and workmen. So we didn't get the best nights of sleep here, despite the hotel being really well decorated and the staff being lovely. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and the service wasn't the best. The staff member that brought out our starters didn't even have a clue what dish was what. The food itself was nice, but the time we waited for it to come out wasn't the best considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. Overall, the location of the hotel is great and it was really well decorated with friendly staff. But I couldn't overlook the poor sleep we had and the works outside that kept woke us up
