Had mad anxiety and regret about booking this place due to all the negative reviews. To add to that , I accidentally booked a twin cabin room with bunk beds - not ideal for a couple in their early 30s ... Pleasantly surprised with this place. Check in was easy and the girls at the desk were lovely and friendly. We could have upgraded our room for a fee but chose to give the room a go - (bunk)beds were spacious and comfy . Room cleaned every day and coffee replaced. Nice and warm at night and more bedding provided if you asked . I would stay here again , the location was great and it was a great price for Edinburgh.

We booked this accommodation due to its central location. It was super easy to reach by airport bus and we walked all over the city from the hotel. I guess the lift has been out of use since summer, so we were lucky to have a room on the 1st floor. There were stairs on the way, but we managed with our luggage. The family room was ok size for the three of us, however a little shelf for glasses, phone etc. would've been nice on the top bunk. Matresses were good, as well as pillows. I had a nasty surprise when climbing to the top bunk, as my socks sticked on the stairs. I don't know whether it was juice, soda or something I don't even wanna know. I cleaned up the stairs and the problem was solved. We had a problem with the shower as it made a bad flood on the bathroom floor. A really nice serviceman came to fix it and the flood got smaller, but was still there. We had some extra towels for drying the floor. During the five days of our stay, we never got the tea cups replaced to clean ones. At the end we had no idea which cup was whose. However, sheets were changed and we always got clean towel when needed. Prepare for a chilly stay if you travel in winter. As the temperature went below zero, the room got very chilly and I guess it must have been approximately +15 °c in the bathroom. Bring warm pyjamas with you and don't forget woollen socks! Last of all, I wanna thank the wonderful staff, who were beyond friendly!

“NO ELEVATORS ”

NO ELEVATORS (lift)! It looked like they had never worked. The staff helped us with our luggage to the second floor. The room size it was okay for 3 people, but the bathroom was disgusting. Water is constantly leaking on the floor. The street is pretty busy and noise. You get what you pay for it.

Stayed at Cityroomz for 2 nights. It's a functional hotel, room was warm and clean, staff on reception were welcoming. It's much like a Premier Inn so no frills as such but ideally situated near lots of restaurants and bars. Unfortunately there are concerns around safety and security. Firstly the main doors in both lobbies were always open whilst we stayed (there are 2 sites near to each other) meaning anyone can walk in. In the site we were in there was no security on the lift ie: you didn't have to use your room card to gain access to any of the floors and, when we returned from being out and about on Saturday afternoon, our room door was open. It had been closed when we left obviously but it hadn't been shut properly after the room had been cleaned. Luckily we didn't lose anything but it was a bit disconcerting. We mentioned it to the housekeeping staff when we next saw them, it was met with a shrug of the shoulders! When we asked to leave our bags at check-out we were given the key to a cupboard and told to take our bags up to the 1st Floor, unlock the door and place the luggage inside. When we returned the process was reversed. Everything was fine but surely a staff member should do this rather than a guest? It didn't seem right to me moving other people's luggage and possessions around to make room for our cases. Hopefully Cityroomz will take these comments onboard and act accordingly to increase security.
