“Quiet, comfortable and artistic.”

We didn’t want to leave. This is a great hotel - friendly personalised service, comfortable rooms in a quiet but convenient location. We loved the intriguing modern collection of art that tastefully (and completely) adorns the hotel. We also had a pleasant drink in their bar.

Beautifully decorated boutique hotel in a great location for exploring, ideally placed for walking or using the trams or buses. We booked a standard room, which although was cozy compared to others was perfect for us and still offered all the same luxuries in ways of hairdryer, teas, coffee and bottled water and lovely smelling bathroom accessories. After a long day walking around, it was a lovely return to be met with homemade mince pies at reception, a lovely hot shower and the comfiest bed and pillows.

“Would definitely recommend”

Stayed in a lovely spacious & comfortable room. arrived very early but was easily accommodated. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were all super friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. If ever I'm in Edinburgh again this would definitely be my choice of accommodation.

This hotel is superb. Set on a well maintained street full of beautiful Georgian Houses, 24 Royal Terrace is a stunning building loaded with tonnes of character. Throughout the hotel you will find exceptional pieces of artwork, beautiful furniture and decorations. The bar / breakfast area is my favourite, with a beautiful Murano glass chandelier. The new whiskey bar which opened this year is equally beautiful, with an exceptional ceiling painting you would expect to see in a large gallery piece. As we arrive to check in we are greeted with mince pies at the door which was a nice touch. Travelled up the incredible staircases, again lined with art, to the very top floor where our boutique bedroom was found. Although there is no lift the staff are more than happy to support with luggage, but if less mobile you might like to contact them for a lower room. Not a criticism as I enjoyed the walk and the tricky climbs are well advertised when booking. The room has all you would expect and more. Lovely views, the most comfortable bed and pillows - I slept so well. There are stylish decorations, artwork and furniture. There is also a well stocked mini fridge with complimentary water, alongside the kettle with a selection of premium teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Great hairdryer which is very helpful for maintaining my quiff - normally a fear of mine using a hotel hairdryer 🤣 shower was cosy but powerful with nice toiletries. The whole room immaculately clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Truly comfortable and warm. Breakfast was delicious. Full Scottish was amazing as were the eggs royale, well worth adding on to your booking! Really fresh, hot and wholesome. Also had some tasty bar snacks before popping out. Finally the staff. The jewel in the otherwise perfect crown. Nothing was too much trouble for the kind and knowledgeable staff here. They were all brilliant, everyone so kind and friendly. Each person we saw was welcoming and took a genuine interest in how your day has been and how your stay was going. 2 specific mentions - Firstly Jonathan the manager - demonstrated unparalleled passion for his work which is clearly reflected in the rest of the team. I enjoyed chatting with him about the hotel and the newly designed Whiskey Bar. He has also taught me that I like an old fashioned and even wrote down a short tutorial and recipe for me to try and make it myself. I’m not sure this is a good thing for my health but certainly is for my tastebuds 😍 Also Arturo - we dealt with Arturo the most from check in, to each breakfast and check out. He is a real credit to the hotel. Arturo had us laughing from the moment we arrived. He was really interesting to get to know and he also took a real interest in our hometown and some tips for when he visits! He was a breath of fresh air. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, and would not choose to stay anywhere else when visiting Edinburgh - I know I’d only be disappointed after experiencing 24 Royal Terrace.
