“Beware of ongoing renovations”

Stayed here one night. Good location. But beware: a big renovation is ongoing, meaning breakfast is in a small crowded room and there is noise all day. Why did we have to stay in a wing with an ongoing renovation, dirt, noise? And there was no price reduction? Bed and shower ok. Furniture outdated.… more

Stayed here one night. Good location. But beware: a big renovation is ongoing, meaning breakfast is in a small crowded room and there is noise all day. Why did we have to stay in a wing with an ongoing renovation, dirt, noise? And there was no price reduction? Bed and shower ok. Furniture outdated. Close the hotel and renovate it properly in a month and reopen - or charge 50% less!

“Positives and negatives”

A complete no-no and a massive design flaw in this hotel is there's no plug sockets either side of the bed. Basic stuff, but it was missing here. Bathroom so tiny you almost had to back into it. A complete no-no and a massive design flaw in this hotel is there's no plug sockets either side of the bed. Basic stuff, but it was missing here. Bathroom so tiny you almost had to back into it. The drain in the bath was broken and maintenance had to be called to remove the plug so the water could drain out. Housekeeping hadn't noticed that the hand cream dispenser was empty. A simple redesign of the room would give much more space. On the positive side, the location is good and we didn't notice any noise. Not sure I'd ever return here though. Seemed second rate and not up to the standard that its name would imply. Staff very efficient and pleasant.

“No kettle. No coffee ”

On arrival at the hotel, the staff seemed very welcoming and polite. The hotel is registered as a 4 * hotel. But I was very surprised that the room did not have tea and coffee making facilities, especially when we paid an upgrade fee for the room

We stayed at the hotel on a very busy York marathon weekend. Despite us arriving before 4 o’clock, when check-in was stated to be from 4, the carpark was already full. We stayed at the hotel on a very busy York marathon weekend. Despite us arriving before 4 o’clock, when check-in was stated to be from 4, the carpark was already full. This was of course our fault because we hadn’t pre-booked a parking slot, but I assumed (wrongly) that our early arrival and gold status would help with finding a a lot for our car. The 2nd disappointment was the state of the decor all across the hotel: the hallways smelled like a wet dog and the rooms were dated. Staying in 1st floor also meant that we could hear noise from some private function until midnight and from the street throughout the night. The breakfast was very mediocre and not of particularly high standard. I cannot fault the staff, they were altogether friendly and professional.

“Overpriced In Need Of A Refurb.”

Hotels in a great spot and the staff are friendly. My room was badly in need of a refurb. Similar standard to Travelodge but double the price. I stayed here to run the Yorkshire Marathon and was looking forward to a nice bath after the race. Unfortunately they put me in a disabled room with no bath… more

Hotels in a great spot and the staff are friendly. My room was badly in need of a refurb. Similar standard to Travelodge but double the price. I stayed here to run the Yorkshire Marathon and was looking forward to a nice bath after the race. Unfortunately they put me in a disabled room with no bath or shower, just a weird wet room which wasn’t great. Not what I booked or wanted. Over £400 for 2 nights poor value for money.
