This hotel always delights us. We had our honeymoon here in June 2022 and go back when we can. Since our last visit it’s been taken over by Hilton. The staff were lovely and the hotel clean and atmospheric. Our only small issue was the evening meal wasn’t as good as before Hilton took over. I’m coeliac and the only main course choice was salmon which I don’t like. Any other fish I’m fine with. However the hotel is a short walk from the city and there are some lovely places to eat not far away. On saying that we’ll definitely be back to Elmbank

This hotel was a huge letdown for myself. We love York and have visited many times and this time we opted to try the Elmbank. Upon arrival the staff were lovely and super helpful. The public areas looked lovely although completely empty at that time. We had a room out in the garden which I liked the sound off but the layout was terrible. The window to the room is facing the pathway where all guests have to walk to get to their room out there. It's also where their suppliers come in for deliveries. The noise of other people coming and going was super disruptive and not what I would have expected from a boutique hotel. You need to look at the door closures and have them close without banging. The room itself is relatively small and the door to the bathroom is literally at the foot of the bed. The room wasn't the cleanest. I dropped my charger and upon moving the chair found clumps of dust along the carpet edge and a layer round the coloured baseboard. The TV in our room wasn't working but by the time I noticed that evening my partner was sleeping and so I was unable to ask anyone to come and look at it. Surely this should have been picked up on when the room was cleaned before arrival. Their amenities include a gym however it is not at the hotel itself but rather another hotel down beside the train station. The staff are super keen to help you and go out of their way to come out from behind the desk to speak with you. Our TV was fixed as soon as reported the next morning, however we won't return to this Hilton. The rate paid for the room now feels expensive when really we paid for boutique but got the same as a budget hotel.

We were in a courtyard room, the bed was very comfortable and the bedding was gentle on the skin, the towels were lovely fluffy and soft, the kettle was full of lime scale and the mugs weren’t clean, the worst thing for me was the shower hadn’t been cleaned and had numerous pubic hairs in the tray,… more

We were in a courtyard room, the bed was very comfortable and the bedding was gentle on the skin, the towels were lovely fluffy and soft, the kettle was full of lime scale and the mugs weren’t clean, the worst thing for me was the shower hadn’t been cleaned and had numerous pubic hairs in the tray, the bathroom floor and the bedroom floor hadn’t been hoovered, sadly my husband washed the shower before I could get a photo, on the plus side the food was outstanding and all the staff we encountered were very polite and extremely helpful, sad that a beautiful house isn’t being properly cleaned

“It's Ok”

The room you tend to get is not like the one pictured. It's much smaller..it's ok but not a 4 star. Parking is problematical as hotel has a very limited number of spaces. The room you tend to get is not like the one pictured. It's much smaller..it's ok but not a 4 star. Parking is problematical as hotel has a very limited number of spaces. You then have to use school facilities which is run by one of those agencies. £18 per 24 hrs. Good points it's within walking distance of York racecourse and a 20 min walk into York centre. Staff are very good. Had dinner there again it's OK nothing to rave about. Set/limited menu all prepped beforehand and then "ding" cuisine. Would I stay there again one maybe two nights. No more
